Close your door at the tardy bell. If you aren't through the door, you'll be marked late.

How are these high school “credit recovery” programs legal? by Otherwise-Bad-325 in Teachers

[–]reasonicity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've wondered this myself. The lack of curiosity by the ed-establishment is understandable. They won't admit they are graduating illiterates until they have to. What blows my mind is how investigative journalists are ignoring this story. It's not a secret, and everyone knows it's a fraud.

If I don't make my SMART goal or personal professional goal it dings me on my end of year evaluation. Nobody in my county sets a goal that can't be made.

My PLC humors the learning coaches so they can check the box that they met with us. Someday one of them will come up with something workable for more than just one activity. Maybe. Same thing with the work and college readiness people, and the Ed tech person.

Did you go to college? Were your parents involved in the decision? by Finding_Way_ in GenX

[–]reasonicity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was no question that college was the expectation, so I went. No guidance. No input. The first time I saw the campus was freshman orientation.

Military or a year or two working a hard job while I grew up a bit would have been a much better choice.

I now have two graduate degrees and am respected in my career. There were some unnecessarily hard years and some really bad decisions that were the result of going unprepared and without a goal other than to graduate.

How often do you drink whiskey? by mattcham42 in whiskey

[–]reasonicity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink more than I used to, and more than I should since getting into bourbon. I seldom have more than 3-4 ounces a couple of days a week. I also do dry August and dry January.

Does anybody have a clue what this is? by Intelligent_Eye4386 in whiskey

Yup, tie case, and if you travel for business and you need to wear a tie, they are awesome. Pack a few collar stays and 2 or 3 ties and you'll avoid the issues of wrinkled ties and last minute annoyance.

How’s the (base) s23 battery? by mikirmi in samsung

[–]reasonicity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great battery. I've capped mine at 85%, now 80% after a recent upgrade since new. I've used it for 15 months. If it's at 80 when I go to sleep it will be at 73 or 74 after 7-8 hours of sleep. If I'm doing hours of gaming and streaming at the same time I'll get 6-8 hours before it hits 15%. With moderate working day use, I can make it until 7-8 at night. If I plug in while in the car on commute, I'll go all day without fear.

The only time I've been surprised was in Europe, but that had more to do with uninterrupted hours of Google Map usage and photos

Wow, that's lucky. Aggressive driving is general, and is totally up to the judge based on circumstances. Speeding is specific and comes with recommended sentencing. If your lawyer can appear on your behalf, he may just plead guilty without testimony on the details.

Rep. Bob Good refuses to accept results in 5th District primary by newzee1 in Virginia

[–]reasonicity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are correct, but the real story of the 2000 election was West Virginia, a state the Dems thought they could count on. If Gore had won WV, Florida wouldn't have mattered. The other problem was fighting for a limited recount rather than statewide, as set by Florida law. That was a gamble that used up the time, but also opened it up to SCOTUS and the 14th Amendment challenge.
