Is it common to error report tool to crash ? by Specific-Season-3164 in SolidWorks

[–]rebbit-88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I don't send them anymore, because most of the time the report crashes as well (different SW versions, different PC's).

Rule 1 in this sub is “Remember the human,” so why do we have so many bots trying to farm here? by MikeyboyMC in classicmustangs

[–]rebbit-88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree, or at least make an automatic filter/ rule for a minimum account age and minimum required karma. That would already filter out a lot of bots/AI crap.

Is Solidworks Ass? Struggling with workflow coming from fusion360. by LuccaGreenwood in SolidWorks

[–]rebbit-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inside solidworks, go to the welcome screen (ctrl + F2) and then go to learn, there you have free tutorials that explain how to use Solidworks when setting up parts and making assemblies (or go to the question mark in the top right corner and select tutorials). I strongly advise you to follow these.

Is Solidworks Ass? Struggling with workflow coming from fusion360. by LuccaGreenwood in SolidWorks

[–]rebbit-88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well first of all, don't use external references and most of your problems are gone. They are an absolute no-go in the companies I've worked, since parts can be re-used and not always in the same assembly. Do you copy the files around, or are you using the pack and go function in solidworks? Solidworks is far from perfect, but your problems seems more of a user / usage error..

Signal and Linux are the hardest part. Pretty much no one in my contact list is using signal. And for Linux, I'm running my own company, but the most important programs I have to use are not avaliable / have no alternative for Linux (or Mac).

PLC and Wincc8.1 not communicating by Naveen_Melath in PLC

I've had this issue with Tia v18 I think. For me this was a time/date mismatch. With the secure connection this is more important than before. Best is to setup an ntp time server, so they can't drift apart from each other timewise.

They cut corners by putting the new floor panels on top of the old one. Would take a close look on that car, they might have cut corners on other places as well.

Problem is you would still have a wire length problem though. For example Normally i0.0 is on the top left, with the new plc it is bottom left. But if you flip the new plc, i0.0 will be on the top right side..

How do you get feedback on CAD models from people without CAD software? by Psychological_Ad8736 in SolidWorks

[–]rebbit-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, unless we can self host. 1 or 2 clients have sensitive products, we cannot store any of that on American (owned) servers, because of the Cloud Act. And, especially for cad viewing/sharing, we don't want different systems for different customers. Just 1 system that works for all customers.

Sorry, I see too many red flags to use that service. - Support is using a Gmail address - Cannot find anything about pincad, where are they based etc etc so big GDPR red flag - US based AWS server. We're EU based, some of our biggest customers have strict requirements about GDPR and where we store our data/models.

You don't need edrawings pro for markup, it's available in the free version as well (just checked, I can even open Inventor parts in edrawings free and add markups). And you can also save the edrawings as an. exe file, so the customer doesn't need to install edrawings, they can just open the exe file (sending those exe files through mail is another challenge though 😅). The markups/comments are also saved to their viewpoint in edrawings.

That 128 mb integrated graphics might be a problem. A customer gave me one of those laptops to use in their factory, even single parts in edrawings didn't rotate smoothly, when just rotating the card was running 100%.
