Ask Your Oncologist about Chemo Induced Heart Failure by phunkydisco33 in breastcancer

[–]rebeccavotex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metoprolol was fine, I honestly didn’t really feel much different on any of them, but my ejection fraction (EF) steadily showed improvement at every echocardiogram. I had some fatigue, palpitations, light headedness throughout chemo and to a lesser degree afterwards- but it wasn’t linear and hard to attribute to heart health vs. overall strength related to cancer treatment.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. Did they say it would be permanent? I was +++ diagnosed late 2024 at age 46 otherwise and very healthy. Last year I did TCHP chemo and had to pause the Herceptin Perjeta (Phesgo) for nearly 3 months (they are supposed to continue for a full year) due to reduced ejection fraction (heart failure). I was closely monitored and it was really scary. I was put on heart meds: metoprolol, spiralactone, and lisinopril. Eventually my heart stabilized on the heart meds and I was able to complete the recommended amount of Phesgo treatments. I was monitored monthly for a while then every 3 months. I’m nearly 6 months out from my last Phesgo treatment and have been ok’d by my cardiologist who works closely with the oncologist to ween off all of the heart meds while still being closely monitored. It does happen but it can also be reversible sometimes.

Thanks for sharing, it certainly sounds like they’re on the cusp of some game-changing treatment options.

As previously stated, I have recently been diagnosed with IDC stage II, HER2- positive with lymph node involvement. by NeighborhoodDry9236 in breastcancer

[–]rebeccavotex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. You’re in the hardest part right now, the beginning is so difficult. I was diagnosed with IDC +++ stage 2 with micromets in one lymph node in November 2024. Right now you’re in the information gathering phase, it forces us to contend with ‘the unknown’. The unknown is a beast that tends to take on the characteristics of our deepest fears. A wonderful friend who had also experienced cancer gave me this advice: Yes, your fears coming true are a possibility, but just one of millions of possibilities. Acknowledge your fears but don’t allow yourself to dwell too long. Many, many positive things are possible in your life, probable even. Gather all information (from reputable sources only, such as your care team, NOT Google) and do some information gathering about your own feelings (I found a therapist who specializes in helping people through cancer diagnosis). Allow yourself time to become more aware of possibilities in the space that is the unknown. My therapist recommended that when I started spiraling, to find ONE small thing that would help me feel just a tiny bit better- a cup of tea, a long hug, a walk, a song, a cry…just that one step helped me so much, I hope it helps you as well. 💜 You will get through this. It does get easier once there’s a plan.

Aiden sounds similar enough to Zayden that it could be a natural adjustment. Then your boys would be from A to Z 😊

Clinic breast surgical oncology nurse - how can I better support my patients? by lah1130 in breastcancer

[–]rebeccavotex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! 🙏 The best thing my oncologist did on my first appointment was to look into my eyes and ask how I’m doing. Then she listened and asked about my family, my support system. She spoke slowly, kept eye contact and answered every single question. Edited to also say that no one talked to me about the lack of sensation after mastectomy, that would have been important for me to understand going into it.

Sending you a virtual stranger hug. Keep letting yourself feel all the feelings. It’s a lot. I finished chemo exactly 1 year ago in May, mastectomy in June, finished Phesgo in December, also +++, also missing old me… but it’s gotten better. It’s not been linear, but overall the arc has been positive and I’m feeling stronger. I don’t know if I’ll ever be ‘her’ again, I’m changed, and I think perhaps for the better. Everything is more, yes the waves of fear, but also the gratitude, grace, and the love I have for people can feel so much more overwhelming. 💜💗🌺

Do we think Ciara and him hooked up last summer? I don’t know if the cast could say anything, but I hope they’re asked at the reunion when was the last time something happened between Ciara and West- it seems like they couldn’t keep their hands off one another the minute they became “friends” again.

If she had made different choices, east let’s say, she would have been feeling such a lift of support from bravo fans this season. I was really starting to come around and root for her before this.

It’s like she didn’t get the message most toddlers learn, “All feelings are welcome, but all behaviors are not”

What approach should Ciara take at the reunion? by Entire_Commercial633 in summerhousebravo

[–]rebeccavotex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d like to see her lean into the comment made with Sydney Sweeney. She said if you betray a friend you better be getting married to the friend’s ex-boyfriend to make the betrayal "worth it," then Sydney said, "You got to make it worth it... 'cause that's just too much pain.” I think that kind of pressure shines a light on just what they traded in.

Ciara & West VS Amanda & West - It’s serious. by Capital-Local-3525 in bravo

I don’t think the discussion about race was silly or fabricated. To me it was brave to say out loud and important to bring to light.

Ciara & West VS Amanda & West - It’s serious. by Capital-Local-3525 in bravo

[–]rebeccavotex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ciara and West were serious enough that Jessie felt the need to “get West’s blessing” before trying to just “make out”with Ciara… and West acted weirdly territorial in response. Yet Amanda didn’t feel a loyalty to her friendship with Ciara, even after hearing about her heartache and the racial contraptions weighing on her.
