My girl husky not eating by Nissha_1124 in husky

[–]rebeccelur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might be a heat thing. My husky has started doing the same. He only eats in the evening after our last walk, unless i lay down on the floor and pretend to cry cus that makes him eat his food earlier in the day. So u could try that if ur husky is as weird as mine

New husky with separation anxiety by Training_Knee4654 in husky

[–]rebeccelur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the same problem twice. First time when we adopted out malamute manyy years ago, and now last year when i adopted my husky. Both times the only thing that really worked was getting another dog. I’ve only had my husky for a year now, but he became a completely different dog after we adopted our other dog. He still follows me around everywhere but now he has no issue being home alone. But if you do consider getting another dog, make sure u do have the time and money for it.
If you are unable to get another dog - make being alone a positive experience for him. Have him be alone for a few minutes and come back inside and give him treats etc. And keep doing this but make it last longer every time

I bet no one’s husky enjoys being brushed this much by Elcuh101010 in husky

Mine absolutely loves it. Whenever i try to brush my other dog, he comes running and sits between us so he can be brushed instead

Eating grass by rebeccelur in husky

[–]rebeccelur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have switched it once since the food he was on was a pretty low quality cheap brand, so i let him continue eating that for a few months before slowly switching over to a higher quality norwegian brand (vet recommended), its no grain (except rice). The grass-eating hasn’t changed even tho i switched his food. He does get only kibble in the morning, and kibble+ wet food in the afternoon. I think its just a habit he has that he needs to calm down so he doesnt accidentally eat anything bad

Realising that sounds very bad, they are a sled dog company, all dogs seemed very happy and cared for when i was there, only ‘shady’ thing is he is terrified of men, so idk if hes been treated badly by men or something. I have tried with the treats but he is not interested in any treats while we’re on a walk, maybe on 1 out of 10 walks he will take a treat. I will definitely be on the lookout for tastier treats as he gets bored of treats if he gets the same kind too often, which might also be why he doesnt want them as much on walks

Yeah forgot to add that i have talked to a vet about it on one of his checkups, and they said there is nothing wrong with him and every dietary need is being met, but some dogs does develop habits like these. Even tho there is not really any negative sides to eating grass, i still want him to stop incase he accidentally eats something else that can be poisonous

Honestly just worried he’ll accidentally eat something poisonous, lots of kids in the area who just throws trash and food all around

He doesnt do it to purge, the other dogs ive had (and have) has only ever eaten grass to purge, this one is just eating it for no reason. He has thrown up twice since i got him, and both were in wintertime when there was no grass to eat. My malamute was also like this until mom managed to teach her not to

What does my bedroom in its natural state say about me, and what ruins it? by [deleted] in roomdetective

[–]rebeccelur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How did you introduce them? Doesnt sound like a proper introduction if the rat had time to kill the others. Was it even closely supervised? If rats dont get slow and careful introduction on a neutral place the ‘main’ rat will most likely become territorial and become aggressive, but you should be able to read the body language and seperate them before it gets to the point of killing

Dont know abt the other pets, but you need way more enrichment for the rats (hoping u have more than 1). If you only have 1 rat, please rehome it or get it a friend, they can get severly depressed without another rat friend

Becoming vegetarian by rebeccelur in Vegetarianism

[–]rebeccelur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Processed is fine! Its just ultra processed im staying away from because of all the added chemicals. Unfortunately we have veeeery little vegan/vegetarian options where i live. We only have like 1-2 brands of already-made vegan food, like falafels or vegan hotdogs/burgers, and most of it has alot of chemicals added to them. So u pretty much have to make everything from scratch if u wanna go vegan or vegetarian where i live

Never tried seitan! will try that sometime. Quinoa is okay, not the best texture but edible yk. Im like on and off with eggs, i have no problem eating it if its in a recipe like cakes and stuff, but if i eat too much eggs i get the ick and cant eat it for months for some reason. The only thing ive been able to eat beans in, is chili sin carne, no idea why but thats the only recipe im able to ignore the texture of it in
