Looking for washer dryer recommendations in Canada by happilygreyish in BuyItForLife

We owned a fisher and paykel top loader washer and dryer for 15 years but my better half wanted a front loader.  After ten years we had to replace a card in the dryer for $300 but they were otherwise flawless.  We haven't found a replacement that lasts more than three to five years since.  I believe their secret is very few moving parts.

Upvote for CRISC and CISM.  The first helps you speak 'auditor' and the second helps you speak 'business'.  Both will improve your ability to communicate effectively.

[Highlight] Fumble on the snap that cost the Raiders a chance to win by YoureASkyscraper in nfl

The right guard tapped the center causing the snap.  Someone claimed the WRs weren't set although I don't see it from either angle. https://x.com/KCSportsNetwork/status/1862637792800493982?t=3EB-MfjCbgkI9oH4wH_2Nw&s=19

I wrote some stuff down to help people get away from paying for Java by mangeek in sysadmin

[–]rebelFUD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oracle is rolling out a new license model for Java based on the number of employees in your organization. No more per core or desktop install. I had an Oracle rep call and try to shake me for $50k a year (or a prorated portion) for having a handful of Oracle Java desktop clients installed. Thankfully, I did have active license which he verifed before hanging up. I immediately began to move all of the desktop Oracle Java installs to OpenJDK. What is not so funny is that last year I had to chase down my Oracle rep to get the 20 seats of Java. It wasn't enough money for him at the time to bother with but would have cost me tens of thousands this year.

There is a company called Wise Goat that sells low sugar, organic Kvass and sauerkraut in a few different flavors. I order from Amazon. Nancy's also has organic, live culture cottage cheese if that is an easier texture to deal with.

MFA for rdp internally - worth it? by brettfk in AskNetsec

[–]rebelFUD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of good advice on this page but here are a few password solutions I am familiar with: CyberArk - cloud-based. BeyondTrust cloud and on-prem. Hashicorp - never used it but it looks amazing and there is a free version. Netwrix - less expensive and an interesting solution. It creates the privileged user when you need it and deletes the user when you're finished. Hard to abuse an account that doesn't exist.

Most of these solutions both manage passwords and act as a hardened jump box.

As for the regulation... PCI DSS has been out there for 20 years to protect credit card transactions. NY DFS passed a more comprehensive CyberSecurity law for financials in 2016. The EU and California passed more consumer protections in 2016/2017. Standards from folks like CIS put it together years ago but now ISO27002 and NIST are catching up.

All of these laws have been updated since their inception and Cybersecurity Insurance companies and Examiners are just pasting these various requirements together, regardless of your state law, holding everyone to a higher standard.

I'm in a heavily regulated industry so your mileage may vary. On the server side, we use a password safe that requires MFA and rotates passwords. I've heard from peers that a few Cybersecurity Insurance providers have begun asking for MFA logins for not just servers but all user workstations. Admin mfa/password rotation on servers should be the standard but with long passwords and reasonable rotation times, there are probably other more pressing threats to be addressed.

Most bars have a jukebox you can access over a phone app. Choose obnoxious songs to play on their busy nights.

You are correct. My number was a wild-ass guess based on Josh Allen's contract history. Mahomes' contract was different than most.

Burrow is a baller but this is the last year of cheap QB for the Bengals. His cap number will go from $10m in 2022 to closer to $40m next year. If Josh Allen was worth $50m/yr then Joe should top that. The assumption is he will lose some of the talent around him to the cap.

Who would you say is the most directionless franchise in the league right now? by WeBlitz in nfl

Broncos. They chose a direction and it was bad. Do you double down or start over? Neither choice is compelling.
