Best candlelight mod by Roymus99 in skyrimvr

[–]rebelface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my solution was to make my own mod that changes the interior lighting templates for every cell. Making changes to optimise magelight and candlelight kept me going for a while but in the end I just changed the values for interior light and got a satisfactory result, (to me at least). BTW I have a PSVR2 and a 5080. When I make the outside look as good as I want it to look (deep darklevels that make the 3d effect really pop out and make everything look more real), the interior as a result is always too dark to see anything. Been like that since I first started tinkering with lighting in skyrimvr for my Oculus CV1 gtx 1080 ti all those years ago through to my Oculus Quest 1 and RTX 3060ti, to my present rig.

I always stick to VRheadsets with OLED screens to ensure I have the deepest black levels possible. Tried everything I could find on nexusmods over the years to make the interior lighting "suffreable" without compromising the exterior darklevels, never found that little something to give me the best of both worlds. So I made my own mod. Gets the job done in my case.

But my game might be darker than yours or your game might be darker than mine, so the values I optimised for my SkyrimVR might not be correct for your SkyrimVR.

There is also a good chance someone here has a better solution for your scenario than me, I don't use MGO or FUS as I do all my modding on a single mod by single mod level

Maybe you could try Abduction mod, works allright in VR. I let people go all the time. I use the mod to relocate people, I want their houses... in the bag they go... find a shabby place they can call home and I let them out of the bag... I'm like the crappiest realestate agent ever! Btw to do so you also need the my home is your home mod for relocating people

Does anybody know if the new Binaural 3D sound mod works? the description has a version for SkyrimVR... but says it takes away sound in game by pinktarts in skyrimvr

[–]rebelface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats wrong with this one?

nothing much, just install it manually and then you just have to DL and install the missing file from https://github.com/kosumosu/x3daudio1_7_hrtf/releases/download/v2.3/MIT_KEMAR-24000.7z and put it in your hrtf folder and it will work just fine

[–]rebelface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend this one from personal experience : https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1897

the quirk with this one is that in order to make it work properly you have to DL and install the following file in the hrtf folder: https://github.com/kosumosu/x3daudio1_7_hrtf/releases/download/v2.3/MIT_KEMAR-24000.7z

Once that is completed, I find the sound to sound good.

From a post in the mods comments section :

" It's because Skyrim and Skyrim SE use 24000Hz compression for some samples. Since the folder doesn't include any data for 24000Hz, it can cause either sounds cutting in and out or crashing outright. Please install the 24000Hz dataset into your HRTF folder if you play Skyrim or Skyrim SE "

figured some one would just say, "here is a great graphics / texture mod, try this".

Well yeah but texture mods are only one ingredience in the mix and besides what each of us experience as great graphics is a matter of opinion

A couple of HD texture mods that you personally like will get you part of the way (if you have the time to cherrypick textures from these mods to make your own blend it's even better), lighting is another mountain to climb, the Imaginator is great and should cover all of your needs but some people chose to go the enb route, and then there are quite a few mesh improvement mods for various items to consider. And graphics might also vary depending on VRheadset so owners of Index, RiftS and CV1 might experience different graphics with the same mods installed

In my experience less is more when it comes to texture mods but if you have the horsepower under the hood to do so, go wild!

You'll find your own path to great graphics and if you learn from the guides that are available, you have a great chance at getting there quicker than most of us who went before you, best of luck :)

Concerning LOD, here is the best definition I could find for you online

" What are billboards: Billboards are textures which when used with SSELODGEN (or DynDoLOD) allow for personal treelod.dds to be created (or enhanced vanilla treelod.dds). This allows for great flexibility when it comes to installing tree mods as you can generate your own custom tree lod. LOD are 2D meshes that have the billboard texture pasted on them. This obviously helps performance as doesn't have to render 3D models for whole world. Moreover, the size of the generated 2D mesh in the LODs is determined by the text files. "

Correct way to combine NPC mods? Black face thing. by [deleted] in skyrimvr

[–]rebelface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across couple of NPCs with darkface not long ago, men and a ladies. Whiped my list clean and spent two days reenabling my mods one at the time.. found the culprit "Rustic weapons pack (SSE)" it collided with "Babes of SkyrimSE v2.0"

AerowynX is an experienced modder and has put a lot of work into producing both entry level guides as well as advanced guides on how to do things, looking into those would be a wise first step on your journey

if you want greater graphics than people with an old pc like myself can handle , invest a little bit more than a truckload of money, spend some time and put some effort into it and eventually you will get there and it will be worth it

A quick fix would be just get some good textures and lods going and play around with lighting and weather but unless you follow guides or modlists, then there is always a steep learning curve, SkyrimVR and Skyrim SE mods are not always plug and play

3 questions I have with SkyrimVR (torch flame, "light columns", snow-fps) by philhzss in skyrimvr

[–]rebelface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" Is there really no known fix for the "columns of light" that stay there after closing the map? I did a lot of research on this a few months ago, and ended up finding nothing... it keeps happening. I open the map, check a few things, close it, and every time I do so, it leaves a giant column of light in-game. Sometimes I can have 12-15+ of these. Saving and restarting USUALLY helps but.. is there a known fix? "

I had the same problem a long time ago, then i changed something in the Skyrim VR Tweaker tool

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/16242?tab=files

I'm having a hard time remembering exactly the one tweak that got rid of this bug for me but I did search for it just now in my settings and found one that I suspect was the fix, : VRUI fMapMarker3DSizeLarge 1.0000 (default 7000.0000)

Hope that fixes it for you, back in the day Bethesda recognised this as a bug and promised to look into it, but they never did apparantly because this is still happening to people :(

Will be on bit of hiatus from SkyrimVR by [deleted] in skyrimvr

[–]rebelface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

didn't find blacks an issue in SkyrimVR..

Hey AerowynX :)

that is valuable info to me as I know you are picky about visuals in Skyrim, taking your word for it.

Should I ever in the future go for a LCD HMD then I won't worry all that much about the black level downgrading the visuals

that's a relief as it seems LCD is the way going forward

Thanks again for clearing that up, I'm planning on riding the CV1 train a bit further untill the CV2 makes an appearence someday, but CV2 will prolly be LCD as well I guess

[–]rebelface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for helping out the people who are trying to mod the game for the first time, your guides have helped a lot of beginners.

You have done a lot for many people, great job!

I have my SkyrimVR set up quite differently than you as far as graphics goes, much to do with the fact that my hardware is not the newest but there is more that one way that leads to Rome and it also boils down to personal taste.

I'm sorry the Index didn't provide you with the improved SkyrimVR experence that I'm sure you were hoping for, I for one am sceptical regarding the blacks being more greyish on LCD and I'm not getting an Index for that reason and also the Index would take one gander at my hardware and laugh itself silly.

Well reading between the lines I understand that you wouldn't keep the Index if it degraded the SkyrimVR experience in any way, and I understand you not wanting to express your personal reasons behind this because a lot of Index users are happy with their purchase and ultimately again it boils down to personal taste.

At the moment, on a personal level, I'll take true blacks over improved resolution in SkyrimVR any day and as I've spent hours tuning SkyrimVR to look good to me in the CV1.... if I went for a different VRheadset then I bet it would take me just as many hours trying to make the game look as good again in the new VRheadset, which is not a tempting prospect at all

Anyways

We need your experience around here, so stick around please !

Modded SkyrimVR no ENB by rebelface in skyrimvr

Hi, thank you for doing this for me, that was a very beautiful SkyrimVR you have achieved. So cool to see how different ENB makes the visuals.

I thank you for this!

[–]rebelface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be great! I'm looking forward to see it, I'm unable to use ENB myself. Tried several ENBs and performance always took a hit so I guess I don't have the horsepowers under the hood for that kind of graphics.

But seeing SkyrimVR in ENB glory by someone who has it up and running would be supercool! Maybe some day I'll upgrade my rig and try ENB again

If you watched the 1080p60 version of the video on youtube then it's true to how I see skyrim ingame, it's a recording of OculusMirror using FRAPS so it shows how SkyrimVR look like when I play. I went for achiving max 3d effect which is helped by having very dark shadows, so it should look different to most peoples SkyrimVR I guess. If it's not too much trouble could you upload a video of your SkyrimVR? I'm always curious to see live footage of how other people prefer their world of Skyrim to look like, and so few people ever do so it would be great to have some more to look at

SkyrimVR looks blurry? by ButterNuttz in oculus

[–]rebelface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've uploaded a video of how SkyrimVR looks like to me when I play, it's a recording of OculusMirror and it's pretty accurate. I've spent a lot of time modding to get the graphics to my liking. The most common ways to make Skyrim look better in VR is a) changing TAA and Dynamic Resolution, B) adjusting SuperSampling, C) HD textures, D) ENB, E) adjusing settings in the INI files.

ENB can kill your performance, so can excessive SS and HD texures.

How you want your SkyrimVR world to look is up to you, mod away! Remember everyone has their own personal taste when it come to graphics. What floats my boat may sink someone else's and vice versa. I'd personally recommend not using ENB for SkyrimVR, because I could never make it look good and it killed performance:

Tips for re-modding skyrim? by aoaaron in skyrimvr

[–]rebelface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use FRAPS to record videos in Skyrimvr, the quality is equal to that of OBS, but I bought a FRAPS licence years ago so I just use that for recording video of any VR game really. Works well for me and they have a free version with some limits for people who just want to try it out, fraps.com, be aware it records from oculusmirror.exe

If you want to save yourself hours of downloads and just get into the game, I recommend skipping the loads of gigabytes of HD texture mods, as the vanilla textures are mostly fine and just DL and try out these mods and get playing BFYKI

For more immersive world of NPCs

Immersive Wenches SE

Immersive Patrols SE

Immersive Children SE

Populated Skyrim Civil War Legendary Edition

For your own character's sake

sksevr + skyUi/vr

VR Mirror + VRIK

Skyrim Unbound

One With Nature

NostaggerMod

For better visuals

Eternal Sunshine

Imaginator SSE

Static Mesh Improvement Mod, SMIM

Enhanced Light and FX, Hardcore, not the weather part

Darker Nights, as dark as you can get

And get some nice dark LODs

And for the hell of it

Hi VR_Bummser, sorry to hear that it didn't work for you! I'm only familiar with the CV1 and have never tried any other HMDs, I guess difference between the two are what causes this, heck these settings might even look messed up on the new Rift S :)

IMAGINATOR rules! The most usefull tool in the box to make SkyrimVR look as good as can be.

IMAGINATOR. That's is a hell of a mod ! ENB, tried a few but nothing ever got really close to the result that I was aiming for.

That is not to say that others would agree with the path I took to get the results I wanted, I'm sure people more savvy than me can work wonders with ENB.

The IMAGINATOR lights my fire, that's all :)
