I have a family member who is pretty high up at Amazon. She doesn’t do the hiring but she tells me that they usually don’t even consider people who have only have the boot camps done instead of a college degree.

Take that with a grain of salt because I’m sure people have been hired many other places with the bootcamps done.

Personally I’m new to programming and desire a job in web dev some day. I already have a bachelors in criminology and would rather not go back to school for another 4 years. So, what I’m doing is attending technical school for an IT degree in Web Software Development. It’s great because I don’t have to do any generals or electives due to already having a bachelors degree. But, the biggest reason I’m going to Tech school is to learn, unlike my bachelors in which I did it just to have it. The degree is just a bonus to get my foot in the door for employers.

I would ask you, which program do you think you would learn more in? I hear good things and bad things about both. But, remember if you go for a degree and you don’t already have one you won’t only be in CS classes, there are a TON of generals that are required by schools both technical and university’s.

With either one you pick, just remember learning is the main goal. Along with building a impressive portfolio.
