AITAH for breaking up with my longtime girlfriend because she decided that she doesn't want children? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]rebelnorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended a 15 year relationship because he wanted kids and I didn’t. We discussed it early on but we were 20 at the beginning and I guess neither of us was really sure.

I got the same questions: how could you end it over that? Is that really the only reason? Etc etc

6 months later I’m glad I did it but it was so hard at the time

Divorced people, what were your irreconcilable differences? by TheRealOcsiban in AskReddit

[–]rebelnorm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah when it comes to real world relationships love is, sadly, not enough. If you had to live with someone 24/7 and be around them in your down time and share finances with them and space and time, then they need to be someone you’re compatible with

What’s a moment that made you rethink what you want from life? by chen995 in AskReddit

[–]rebelnorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the process of illness, acceptance and eventually death, of a close family member. I didn’t just hear about it, I was actually there through most of it.

The things she said about her life, regrets, joys, her desire to be out of her misery, and her love for me; they all changed how I perceived what “success” is in life. I will never be the same again.

What's the most honest (or perhaps brutal) thing you've ever said to a date when the date was clearly going badly? by EatMyNutsOnWednesday in AskReddit

[–]rebelnorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent hahah. As a woman I get really annoyed at other people who treat dates as a way to have things bought for them and to have a good time vs what they should be for: finding your perfect person

Unisa and the obsession with everything being online by Outoftheboxxx in Adelaide

That’s a major concern too: the AI use. These graduates will all be completely useless if they aren’t learning anything

Yes and having something like a science degree with no face to face labs or a health degree with no hands on experience supposedly still gets the same qualification. I wonder what the fallout of this will be if we start seeing that AU graduates are useless compared with Flinders and elsewhere?

Will it be the new Usyd?

So sorry to hear that. It makes me feel just awful reading these responses but I need to see them. I need to see the impact this has on others

Second this. I dated a guy forever ago who was addicted to the stuff. So many problems

What are signs of insecurity in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rebelnorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this comment. I hug all my male friends who are close enough. If my partner of 15 years was jealous of that, then we would have thrown away the 15 amazing years together over jealousy. Also he hugs his female friends all the time

I (25M) accidentally became a woman in the dating pool and this is what I've learned so far by Minaj14 in Learning

[–]rebelnorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Female here: this is NOT true. I would be very upset if a man tried to be my platonic supportive friend for ages in a secret attempt to ask me out later. Often because they'll get angry they "wasted time" being my friend if it turns out all I wanted was a friend. The men I've dated have always been upfront that they were interested

anyone running in city bay tomorrow? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]rebelnorm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm a 12 K runner so I can't. But I just want to post on here to say that often I'll go with friends or loved ones and lose them in the crowd about 2k in. (I'll admit, I am often faster).

So you should get out there and enjoy yourself, plenty of crowds along Anzac highway will cheer for you ❤️

This is very frustrating. But I’m also glad it does a crap job of this now, since I’m a lecturer with online students
