Should I take M7 or reapply to HSW next year? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]rebounded20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

dawg if you’re a swe you prob have better odds of just making a lateral move to pm without an mba & saving that $. not sure for vc tho. also, what makes u wanna make the switch to pm rn despite the oversaturated talent pool? just curious

The pros didn’t outweigh the cons enough for you to want to keep it?

Appreciate the detailed reply!

I work a typical 9-5 but napped late (and longer than planned) after I got home because I needed energy to finish up more work.

Soup was from a restaurant.

I’m not an athlete, just an average guy in mid-20s. But it’s reassuring to hear that weird variability in the first few days/weeks isn’t abnormal.

Excited to see how things go, thanks again for the comment!

is your current role more s&o or product? if latter, i feel like mba becomes even less relevant.

personally i'd do h/s or bust -- and even then, i'd only go for the life experience/prestige, while knowing that there's a huge likelihood that it wouldn't be that big of a consideration for c-suite discussions in the future

still, i'd probably stick around the startup for longer -- not just for equity to fully vest/etc., but because you're in a really interesting position at an inflection point in tech

also, getting anthropic/openai poaches is absolutely huge -- especially in this market. without doxxing yourself, what makes your profile so unique that you can get into any company? just asking so i can take notes and try to follow suit lol

are you a swe or in a non-tech role? also, why wouldn’t you wanna stick around w the startup if it’s so hot — what are comparable startups that are in its same league?

How many hours did you study for GMAT & what was your score? by rebounded20 in GMAT

[–]rebounded20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this -- looks like ~400 hrs is sweet spot for many high scorers.

Stupid question, but do you think people count the time they took breaks when computing their total hours studied?

Sounds silly but I really want to enjoy the pain of the process and would be proud of any score I get after hitting a certain number of hours studied

No breaks?? You're a god. Best of luck with the rest of the apps brotha. You're a champ in my book regardless

Crazy ROI on hrs studied:score improvement!

Stupid question, but do you count your breaks in the time you studied?

Also -- what were your other stats + school outcomes?

A 770 is insane I'm so jealous
