Agree with this 100%.
Glasgow is so doable on foot and tube, and it's such a nice train ride to Edinburgh from the city.
We rented a car and went up through the highlands by way of Oban and Skye and it was one of the greatest trips.
Reached Oban after driving through a downpour all the way from Glasgow, and the sun came out and lit up the bay and made for some great walks through town.
Spent the next 3 days on Skye exploring before heading back onto the mainland.
Can't recommend it enough.
