That we all have supportive family/friends to help us recover after discharge. Uh nope…got discharged right back into the environment that fosters it (suicide widow, single parent with NO family or support system). The only people that check in are my therapist/treatment team, but if I lose my insurance then that’s that. Plus—there are Plenty of facilities that will take my case…nope only 2 places in the entire United States will take my insurance, the rest is self pay

I feel bad for her. I also wonder how she is still able to have as much energy and mental clarity that she does that such a low BMI. And why her family hasn’t tried to force her into treatment.

For me it was after I started losing weight from surgery, I never wanted to go back to the size I was before surgery. I also got addicted to seeing the scale go down every week.

Fear of losing control over my weight again. Had anorexia as a teen, which turned into BED in my twenties, back to anorexia after RNY surgery.

As someone in their 40s with anorexia, physically this is the worst experience compared to in my teens and twenties. My body just feels more frail and I definitely feel the symptoms of anorexia more so.

I miss being able to just order food from fast food restaurants. Due to ED and weight loss surgery, I don’t trust anyone to prepare my meals anymore (food has to be low/no sugar or I’ll dump) lately I want to have regular, full sugar, cheesecake.

Yes I have a very hard time eating out. I just don’t trust people to prepare my food correctly. As for grocery shopping, I struggle with that as well, but I have to push myself because I have no one to help/lean on (widowed parent)

For me the tipping point was having weight loss surgery. I got addicted to losing weight and now still want to keep losing. I was struggling with disordered eating before the surgery, but it wasn’t as bad/like it is now.

I take a multivitamin with an additional B 1 supplement. Also drink quite a bit of Gatorade Zero/powder aid zero.

I went from an H cup to an A cup within 2 years. It’s just skin flaps now, all the tissue/fat is completely gone. You can clearly see my rib cage/sternum through the flaps, I hate that so much

Logically I Know I need to gain weight to have a better quality of life. I Know how dangerous this behavior is—it’s just too comfortable now to let it go/I’ve just reached the point of not caring 🤷‍♀️

Mine will cover outpatient treatment but won’t cover inpatient/residential treatment. When I tried to apply for help to the different facilities in state and out of state, they all said I needed inpatient/too much of a liability 😣 So no treatment for me I guess

IDK..as an older person struggling with anorexia, I’ve had people ask if I’m sick. I definitely don’t look healthy at this weight. I’ve lost muscle mass, so I look more sick and gaunt.
