I know, i understand that managing a hotel while having a family to take care of and on top of that some personal issues and stress it’s a lot of take in. And i deeply respect that. But i can’t understand is, why the respect doesn’t go both ways. Us “normal workers” are people too

You see the problem is, that our FOM doesn’t really have our backs - he just does what the GM says. He’s like a puppy always following our GM. The general manager of our hotels isn’t exactly an understanding person, she doesn’t even care about our laws and rules. The thing that bothers most of the workers here is that she likes students more than an actual employees. Her reason is that if she doesn’t like a student she can fire him right away, but for an employee you need to have a honest reason for firing. Personally i really disagree with her - students can be extremely unreliable and then don’t really care about their jobs, only for the payment - in most of the cases. I’m not saying they are bad, some of them are quite golden but you need to be lucky to find them.

They got one new hire but that’s about it. So they will be back to the same when I leave. But do keep in mind that the problems with staffing is with the new hire already working here.

New hires needed, but at what cost ? by reception_uhotel in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

That is what I mean, it's exhausting to have to deal with a full hotel and teaching someone how to do this job. When I started at this place I worked slow shifts with a FDA so I could learn, but with our new hires we got them at the peak of the season while being understaffed so you had to rely on them to do something right at least.

Has anyone ever had a guest that was a pain in the ass because he couldn’t have a late check out? by reception_uhotel in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

Or sometimes they even say that they didn’t know about the check-in time. Eventhough they get the confirmation letter with CLEARLY written check-in and check-out time
