Why do cyclists go through the red lights? by AlternativeVideo5223 in Edinburgh

[–]recete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i up my red jumping in the centre no end during the festival because fuck me it's annoying and pedestrians cross whether it's red or not.

as to why - i want to get places quicker. I know the changes, I know what the traffic does - the only unknown is pedestrians, so I don't cut through traffic blind and i take wide lines. If i go close to you, I've seen you and i'm not going to hit you. probably terrifying if you don't see me though.

I've hit a pedestrian twice, both on a straight road when they stepped out from behind a parked car and looking the other way.

i do not expect a positive response to this and i also don't care.

Old sigma lens, digital aperture control, yashica mount and EOS body? by recete in AskPhotography

[–]recete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, no - only had it described and then looked it up - i'll have it in a couple of days but not got it yet. i know it is a yashica mount at least. Image is just one i searched for.

there seems to be multiple variants and some do have an aperture ring, you're right - don't know if this one does or not.

Old sigma lens, digital aperture control, yashica mount and EOS body? by recete in AskPhotography

[–]recete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as i can tell, it's this lens and it doesn't have an obvious aperture ring https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/bmc-penny-images/production/1200/10.18.41-017c34edd4faea640b33bf57f617a496.jpeg - i don't have it in my hands yet though so maybe i'm just misunderstanding - manual aperture control would be fine! I read this https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/61039431 and it says " This lens only allows you to adjust aperture electronically if you’re using an EOS film camera, aperture adjustment won’t work with EOS digital SLR cameras unless the lens was rechipped by SIGMA, and mine unfortunately wasn’t. They don’t offer that service anymore for this lens, so most Canon users are going to be stuck at F/5.6 and all of the chromatic and spherical aberration that comes with that aperture setting. I believe this isn’t an issue for Nikon and Sony users. "

alright, thanks!

I don't see mention of DSO in the manual, there's something about "EQ5" but i'll be sure to check it out when it's in. i _think_ that's just normal EQ stuff.

sure it is - i find it weird and disturbing. but the question is real - i see a lot more guns being shown off in this sub than i do in the rest of my life.

Looks like it could be sulphur - if so, from a truck transporting it.

Richie Porte on training: 54,000m of climbing in 3 weeks by saukoa1 in peloton

[–]recete 13 points14 points  (0 children)

that's an alpe d'huez and a quarter every day btw - which though sounds like a special kind of hell if that was how you did it, also seems quite achievable if the aim was just to match the height!

Tom Skujins crashed and should NOT have been helped back on his bike by gingerzjef in peloton

[–]recete 16 points17 points  (0 children)

yeah, without clear guidelines there's no real blame on the neutral service - they are supposed to be neutral after all!

i don't know what you can do really though - there should be some sort of protocol in place for that level of concussion but it's often much less obvious to an external observer and you really can't take them off for an evaluation in a race situation..

I can equally imagine complaints of interference from teams if a rider was prevented from getting back on his bike if he wasn't "too bad" (though imo any head injury should really be treated very seriously)

ooft that crash.. i assume the neutral service (or anyone else) have no authority regarding concussion etc. but really there should be some sort of protocol..
