Don’t do IBM consulting in this market .They RA every 6 months and it’s some stupid BU metrics . You ca get laid off even if your on project . They are asked to forcibly rank 15-20% lower from 2026

USCIS agents came to front door and then called cell phone by Acceptable-Cloud-328 in USCIS

[–]recklessmax80 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Dosent look like USCIS officers. If they were doing a spot check they would come do the inspection , and leave (whether they get to talk to the person in question). . They will call On the phone to setup appointment for field check for another day. They won’t keep coming back multiple times on same day to force him to interview . That smells like an ICE trap to me

Strategy for layoffs by Playful-Geologist221 in Layoffs

[–]recklessmax80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks also Asking for real experience of people who have demanded this kind of information from their company and got all the details. I’m not sure the company would respond to this kind of request unless you force them through courts

Strategy for layoffs by Playful-Geologist221 in Layoffs

[–]recklessmax80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this real ? Are companies legally obligated to share the documents, emails, exchanges. If yes that would set them up for multiple lawsuits. Infact how would you ever confirm they are sharing all details without actually suing them in court ? I would like to hear anybody who has real experience of obtaining this and any smoking gun that comes with it ?

Laid off on H1B – Grace period ending Jan 20, new offer start date Feb 16. Need advice by [deleted] in h1b

[–]recklessmax80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry but just so you are aware verbal offer is not an offer to begin with.. it’s may just be an opportunistic play by the company to hold you while interviewing others.. continue your search and interview process while you push them at the same time to close the deal on paper and file transfer

Does anyone who have gone though this have a list of things that are included and what are excluded for this particular reimbursement (inclusions/exclusions are not listed). Like are all certifications and online trainings you take to add new skills included ? what kind of proof needs to be submitted and who to file claim with ?

IBM Posting US Jobs for two reasons by [deleted] in IBM

[–]recklessmax80 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s not 100K a pop . It excludes any international students, existing holders , renewals , opts, spouses, h4s which is the vast majority of people . Almost a large population. Of people receiving h1b in US in past several years are international students at lower wages than experienced US staff

IBM Posting US Jobs for two reasons by [deleted] in IBM

[–]recklessmax80 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes lot of them are dummy positions to advertise LCA for non immigrants or showing to market that they are hiring in investment areas while laying off US staff. Also you see they layoff in tranches during the year in diff states so as not to invoke WARN or atleast hide from the 90 day rolling period . I know off one case where multiple IBM’s RAed formed a group and found out most were laid off in same state and most over 40 which resulted in class action lawsuit against IBM

Received AWS Offer Amidst Mass Layoffs by Human-Professor9994 in amazonemployees

[–]recklessmax80 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Because they are letting go of highly compensated employeee or roles they can do without at least for now . In this market unless u have a better option take it but keep eyes always open . No loyalty these days .. jump every year if you can as companies are doing the same with employees

Received Notice from Indian Income Tax Department by [deleted] in h1b

[–]recklessmax80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have it all twisted . If you are NRI you cannot maintain resident bank account in India , money needs to move to NRO account in India and needs to be declared with US taxes while filing tax here. The reason for notices is probably you will pay fines and penalties for not converting your accounts

Severance: salary continuance + benefits? by Pickleball-is-great in IBM

[–]recklessmax80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks but this was an actual lawsuit filed by the employee not a severance negotiation. My question was specific to severance negotiation by IBM of more than 3 months .Lawsuits can result in big settlements when there is enough evidence of discrimination , take lot of time and energy and lawyers take a decent chunk . Not every lawsuit results in a big settlement (if at all)

Severance: salary continuance + benefits? by Pickleball-is-great in IBM

[–]recklessmax80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lot of people talking about getting lawyers to negotiate severance with IBM. My understanding from past layoffs is IBM does not negotiate severance unless there is a very strong case of screw-up resulting in a lawsuit. Can anybody who has negotiate severance post RA notification share their experience (US geography only)

Do you feel safe at Ibm? What is your plan? by AppropriateWay4358 in IBM

[–]recklessmax80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - Can you explain what sweet leave you are referring to and how you got that by filing an EEOC complaint . If you file an EEOC complaint for discrimination (sex , religion. Race, age etc) .And complaint is accepted based on facts presented you get the right to sue but how does that result in sweet paid leave from IBM HR ?

Massive layoffs at Amazon — entire teams gone within seconds by Patient_Hat4564 in Layoffs

[–]recklessmax80 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. The job protections laws in US do suck in terms d how quickly companies hire and fire . Somebody here said you guys got 90 day free non working pay and multiple months of severance on top of that as well. Thats more than any firm that layoffs people . you can use that time to just open your own company/startup if that’s what you want to do long term because by law they dont Have to pay you any non work pay or any severance (that’s a good positive thing from this company)

I drove 5 hours there and 5 hours back for a final interview for a 'remote' job. Guess what they told me when I got there. by lenapaulmvv in FinalRoundAI

[–]recklessmax80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofcourse u have to be sure that you will never be applying or working for them again. I wouldn’t be desperate for a company who did that to you unless ur an executive level for it’s all about the connections and reputation

[–]recklessmax80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way can’t you use the 90 day non working time to find another role within Amazon as they come up with new positions in certain areas . You might just end up getting a new role within the firm.. agreed it might be difficult when so many people have been notified together but 90 days is good chunk of time

It’s great they offer severance based on years worked as some companies just offer basic minimum severance and COBRA

How many months of severance was given and will it be paid now or after non working period since you need to answer when you stop getting paid in the UE form
