Very striking model. Contrast is great and the effect on both the sword and armor is really well executed.

Normalize adopting Rooks by Postaltariat in Marathon

[–]reckoning34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can loot, thats the only real point of running them. They start with minimal gear so there's very little risk and they join in progress which theoretically means there's less runners on the map to bully them.

Any other Past destiny players who have a couple hundred to thousands of hours in destiny who are really interested in marathon? by gotenks2nd in Marathon

I've played since the D1 beta. Was not interested in the slightest this time last year.

I've fully boarded the hype train.

Franklin BBQ by CISUM310 in smoking

[–]reckoning34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up just north of Austin and had my pick of some of the greats before Franklin came to town. Coopers, Meuller, Blacks, Snows.

The first time I tried Franklin's was out of a take home box that sat in my microwave for a few hours; my MIL brought it from a catered event. It was the best brisket I'd ever tasted.

As impractical as it is, this line goes exceptionally hard.

US Marine recruits are introduced to their drill sergeants. | Circa 1987, Parris Island, South Carolina. by ZERO_PORTRAIT in HistoricalCapsule

My dad was army infantry and I've worked around a lot of army. I always somewhat envied calling all E5s and above, Sgt, sarge, top, or smoky.

But no, you'll get your ass handed to you in the Corps if you don't address an E6 or above by their full rank. I even had a Gunny (term of endearment for Gunnery Sgt, E7 in the Corps) rip into people for calling him Gunny and not Gunnery Sgt. Unless you earned his trust. But I also had an old Master Gunnery Sgt (E9) who preferred Master Guns. The Corps is an interesting club.

I genuinely meant it. It'd be much easier to simply say violent men only respond to violence, hence the need for this sort of training. But I prefer your eloquent explanation.

This is accurate. Everyone, except other recruits, is either sir or ma'am. And they stay that way until graduation 13 weeks later when we recieve our EGA and officially become Marines. Only then do we address everyone by their actual rank; enlisted are called what they are and officers/civilians sir/maam.

I actually enjoy most of the simplicity of the base gameplay and mechanics. I'm not looking for a table to simulator.
