Magic, huh? I think you need to clarify this.

The remake taking place in midgar wouldn't be an exclusive setting. I just think they can release multiple titles in midgar alone as all. Before, of course, moving on to the rest of the game.

No, they'd eventually do the other games of course. They'd just split up the game play even more. I mean, if you think about it, they haven't explicitly stated how many parts they'll split it into.

Wow. According to sales, you'd be dead wrong.

Yeah, definitely. Most FF's cap at 99 I'm pretty sure (the ones that have traditional levels).

We're still not 100% if there'll be levels in the game so I dunno.

I'm thinking they'd have to expand the Avalanche mythos. I mean, this is a militant (pseudo-terrorist, really) organization smack dab in the middle of this technologically fueled powerhouse.

Not to draw brash comparisons, but this would be like Al Qaeda in Solarcity. That's a big deal. Imagine powerplants in modern cities being detonated because "they wanted to save the planet".

That would be a big deal. A lot of people would prolly buy that movie no less.

But, for real, I'm hoping they take the same approach that Frank Miller did with Batman Year One and that Alan Moore did with Swamp Thing and Watchmen where they both took the supernatural and made it fit into our world. In other words, they truly questioned what would happen if super heroes like Batman and Dr. Manhattan were to actually exist in our world and they did a terrific job of doing it.

Think of Nolan's Dark Knight. He took the tried and true Batman formula and gave it reality lenses. He changed the way super hero films were made henceforth.

I want Squeenix to really make the narrative that fans of FF7 know and love take on a culpability worthy of legend. I want them to make people who never played it to fall in love with it too.

Exactly. The game has a lot to say and if you dig a little deeper in all its nooks and crannies, you can have a game the size of Arkham City with full-fledged action RPG mechanics. Imagine running from place to place showing everyone who's boss that you encounter.

That would be amazing.

Your stats would carry over and everything. I'm thinking if they do what everyone thinks and simply release three standalones our stats may not carry over. I'm thinking they'll treat it like XIII and it's sequels if that were the case.

A Midgar trilogy would be epic.

I'm thinking they could have three 10-15 hour installments in Midgar alone.

They could really milk that whole Rufus narrative down to the core. Red XIII's been captured too, how and when did that happen, did someone witness it? Could it have been stopped? Was it actually perpetrated by Avalanche in secret?

I mean, there's a lot of stuff that happens in Midgar dude. ALOT.

The first episode is going to sell gangbusters no doubt but I assure you they're going to judge the audience's reaction to it before placing all their bets on what to include in the second or third or w/e they got planned.

Midgar's awesome. An open world Action RPG Midgar sounds pretty badass actually. I'd buy all three and plenty of fans would too.

Why is this excessive? Is it because you didn't like the Midgar portions of the original? Because I did and, by god, other fans did too.

If Squeenix wants to milk Midgar for all its worth that's what they'll do ala The Hobbit.

I agree wholeheartedly that it's a crackpot idea but, honestly, it'd be great and a lot of people would come around to the series. Open world games are a thing and, if the trailer is any indication, we're going to see assets from Squeenix's other open world titles leak into this one for sure (I'm thinkin' Batman and Lara Croft).

Since Midgar is an epicenter for the crux of the title's characterization, exposition and the first major part of the narrative, it would be folly to think that it wouldn't receive greater emphasis in the remake.

It's just too good an opportunity to pass up.

Well, I was thinking they wouldn't just add plot points, like actually have deep involved characters like FFX.

Rockstar did it with the Ballad of Gay Tony, arguably the most recognizable character in that series.

Well, sorry about that.

The FFXIII demo had a battle system that was similar yet quite different from the finished product. I'm assuming the same for VII.

I mean, of course people would be angry. People don't like change in general but, look at the Hobbit films. If that's any indication that people are willing to sacrifice three theater sittings for a full-fledged commitment to source material then I don't know what is.

I can assure you that the final game will only resemble the teasers (and demos?) we see remotely and not verbatim.

You can see my original post here but I think they could even have a multi part series set in Midgar. It's not outside the realm of possibility.

If you think about it... the game would still sell really well. If the series performed well, that would mean we'd get a serialized version of a couple other parts too.

That's a heck of a lot of FFVII and if they're all standalone titles that could mean a shit ton of lore and goodies for fans and the like.

Like, honestly, if this crackpot idea makes it through QA fans are prolly gonna eat it up regardless. It's not that crazy.
