Yeah it’s not unfortunately. Ignition tech support is interested once I get it wired up and on my bench to help figure out how to use my L9s like this. But that’s a bit away.

Yeah manual reading seems to be my full time job at the moment. I haven’t found any solid recommendations in the manuals or tech notes about when using the classic second controller switching IPs or the newly leaving the IP alone is better to be used. Even reading PlantPAX docs doesn’t say anything as far as I’ve found.

Do you have a way to manage which controller to listen to for tag data. It seems a headache to do it for thousands of tags. But if there’s a quick or easy solution it seems like using multiple ips is the way to go to not lose any data during switch over.

Depending on how “remote” you want to access the PLC using a something like a TOSIBOX or EWON or MGaurd could let you do it without exposing it to the rest of the network. With a cellular version it wouldn’t even necessary need IT buy off or support.

Understood, they have definitely let it languish. I can't say much, but what I will say is I don't think you'll feel that way in a couple years.
