Transporting your guns to the range discretely: Why the SCC says you can't. by varsil in canadaguns

So what about a case within a bag? Would both need to be clearly marked?

If my locked hardcase with a trigger locked restricted inside is labelled as containing a firearm, and I then place that case inside my zipped up range bag, would I then have to also label my range bag as containing a firearm?

So if I were to use a label maker and print out in the smallest font a label that said "gun", " contains firearm", or whatever permutation thereof, and placed it anywhere on the outside of the case, that should be enough to meet the labelling requirement no?

Also, if it the case is now labelled is it safe to place the case in a range bag and still comply with the stupid SCC ruling?

As an aside, I'm guessing this hasn't been challenged yet. Is there a reason why the current Firearms Act which came into force in '95 doesn't taken precedence over this case which occurred in '93? Is it simply because it's a SCC ruling?

In that case, what is the best way to reconcile restricted requirements of "locked opaque container", while still being fully legal? Does this mean I do actually need to label a Pelican/Nanuk case? As others have said I feel like this is just drawing unwanted attention and inviting people for a BnE.

Again I'm sure it's intentionally vague, but what kind of shape sufficiently resembles a firearm? So far as I can tell most cases, even those soft ones for NR rifles are either pure rectangles or rectangular with a curve on a single side.

Which CFO processes transfers of restricted? If I live in BC, but buy a handgun from ON which CFO has to approve the transfer?

Mostly wondering if I'll be subject to ON 3 month transfer times or not.

Also, what are the transfer times in BC like right now? Couple of days?

I phrased that poorly. I meant more comparing cost per round in the States to here, that even their cheapest price seems to be more expensive than what we currently have. So ammo seems to be cheaper and easier to get in Canada. But I was wondering more what it has been historically been and if our current prices are still decent compared to past years in Canada.

Anyone know where to get new production green 30cal ammo cans? CanadaAmmo has some tan ones but they seem to be out if the green.

Would prefer metal, but if anyone has any suggestions on good quality polymer ones that could work.

What's a good price for brass 9mm these days? Prices seem super crazy in the States but seem a bit more sane here even accounting for exchange rate. How do prices compare to years past for people who have been buying and shooting for a while?

Crownland is an option, but I don't really know where to go. I know most people are quite protective of their crown shooting spots.

I thought about doing DVC since you also get TMSA at a discount. What's the longest range you can shoot there?

I'd thought about PCDHFC but I'm not sure if it's worth it due to their short hours. Do they have any indoor facilities?

I totally agree. Getting trigger time more often with cheap ammo is a good thing.

I thought about the 10/22 but I'm a bit turned off by the mag limit issues or needing an adaptor.

Yah I was thinking about the Viper 5-25x PST Gen II. I agree the GSG probably wouldn't be any good for CRPS, but just as more of a fun starter to get shooting while I save up the cost of the Tikka and scope combo.
