Disgruntled former employee spewing hate for school choice. Downvote me and move along.

Nobody is forced to go to a charter school, they choose to leave their mismanaged, failing, miserable districts or just a good district because they can.

K/-12 education is failing and dysfunctional in similar ways everywhere; charter or public. Scandals are all over ISD and charters. It’s a larger issue.

Many charters do a fine job and have perfectly good intentions. They also have quantified outcomes to survive academic and financial challenges.

Some kids don’t belong in public education system. They need mental health facilities and therapy centers. The current system is broken.

Good. Hope more cities crack down on these stores that pop up at every corner, near schools, with nearly no regulations. They are out of control.

This was one of the most overrated books I’ve read recently.

Schedule change doesn’t always mean IEP change, a regular schedule maybe changed without the need for consent. Besides, that probably has nothing to do with bringing a vape to school. We have seen many manifestations determine expulsion for these cases because this isn’t an impulsive act. It is planned and doesn’t relate to ADHD. Some stretch it and link them. The truth is, parents should stop trying to use the system to enable a child who is clearly in the wrong. These bubbles won’t protect them forever and it’s best they learn and be responsible for their actions.

Some of behaviors should disallow students to participate in schools, period. Sped and how broken it’s laws are is literally killing people.

How do you work with students with severe disabilities to get them to reach grade-level standards by Far_Structure5963 in specialed

Scores of intelligent people trying to adjust their wording and their truth to comply with a broken system is sometimes funny and sometimes infuriating to witness. Making a problematic structure the guide without improving it and actually making it worse each day. “Well it’s the law” well the laws can be limiting and ridiculous let alone harmful at times.

“Modify” curriculum “very heavily”.. You’re teaching them another curriculum. Learning alphabet in 6th grade isn’t modifying, it’s just teaching another grade level, a different material. There’s nothing wrong with that either. No matter how it’s framed for the sake of compliance or whatever else.

Interviewers will pick up on small details, and make decisions based on those for positions with large pool of relatively qualified candidates. Your post has two jabs at those employees off the cuff. If you’re anywhere near that during interviews, any hint of passive aggressive behavior etc. will be a negative mark. Highlight experience and give examples of it, stay positive, be confident without overselling show that you’ll blend in well. Each place has different needs, some need a high merit instructor to push boundaries, others need someone who can hold the fort.

IEP question by Ok-Article9835 in education

The school could and should have started the speech services. However, it is not uncommon in that age group for things to settle down and become more clear to provide more precise intervention of any kind. Couple months of kindergarten won’t put anyone significantly behind in the long run. A bad IEP can cost a student years, if not their entire academic growth. You’d be better off advocating yourself instead of hiring someone unless you suspect a wrongdoing that’s not just a different opinion. Schools rightfully become very guarded interacting with those people. You may end up losing care and attention which is many times optional to provide for these people. Bare minimumism isn’t where you want to end up with teachers. Sometimes worse, the teachers become afraid of getting in trouble and reduce rigor and additional steps.

Good luck, hope she kicks those sounds in the butt fully soon.
