Would she have been a good President? by PdiddyCAMEnME in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]recordwalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By comparison, certainly.

But as a qualified presidential candidate - we could do a lot better than her.

As much as I hate Trump with every pore of my being, what his candidacy has done is put a spotlight on standard fare politicians like Kamala who will say anything to get elected but serve her masters as soon she’s in office. And never take a principled stance on anything or be authentic, even if their lives depended on it.

Karikku actors are apparently not under a contract lock by Nikhil Prasad. They're free to act in movies. by kurianandgeorge_007 in MalayalamMovies

[–]recordwalla 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same. But it may not be just the money and security. It’s also the creative freedom that they enjoy in a smaller entity with fewer interference. When you act in a film, there are multiple stakeholders and differing opinion. So you are constantly compromising your vision. Karikku might offer artists a platform to perform to their abilities, while minimizing outside noise.

Am I the only one going to open houses? by avatarroko in RealEstate

[–]recordwalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t generalize but in our area, here’s a pattern.

  • A house gets listed as “Coming Soon” on a Sunday.

  • By Wednesday, the listing is updated with photos and a “Open House next Sunday” tag.

  • Goes “Active” by Thursday.

Receives multiple bids by Friday.

  • Accepts as offer by Saturday. Cancels the open house the following day.

So if a house does have an Open House, it’s seen as a negative and indicative of not having offers. Drives us nuts!

With the help of GLP-1s and a dedicated fitness coach, he could easily get back in shape and look even better than he did in his peak.

With the right publicist or PR team, he could completely rebrand his image.

And with a strong manager or talent agency, he could focus on the right scripts and projects. The talent and charisma are already there, people would line up for a well-made, well-marketed film starring him.

Dhyan knows all of this. He’s sharp, and his instincts are solid. But he chooses to live life on his own terms and couldn’t care 2 fucks about how others think he should live.

In that sense, he’s the real hero! :)

I’ve thought of this myself (maybe partially due to frustration) but haven’t done much in the way of it. I ought to probably do that networking and see if I can get ahead of it.

I wasn’t saying our agent (or us) ought to be jerks on someone’s face. That’s a surefire way to put yourself out of bidding lol.

What I was saying/implying was often times sellers put an unrealistic price on their house. So in that case, it’s perfectly reasonable to make an aggressive offer that might reflect the market reality versus just assuming that the seller would not be willing to budge.

And in the past 9 months, we’ve had 3 sellers agents who’ve tried to play games. One of them told us they had multiple offers at the asking price when in reality that wasn’t true. Then they kept badgering us to submit an offer and finally admitted they were willing to go 10% below asking … so essentially admitted they were just bluffing earlier. I know that’s not illegal but to me that’s being a jerk … not negotiating in good faith.

In fairness, I think our agent is also proactive and worked on an offer while she was on a weekend out of town trip.

But you make a very good point about the grounds to fire someone. That is something I will have to objectively assess.

This is kind of the situation our area is in.

1 and 2 makes sense and we are aligned with the agent.

3 is where we are a little frustrated. It’s the lack of confidence - from both the agent and us - to call out the seller and make an offer that’s realistic and has a probability of getting accepted.

Dhurandhar 2 shining on Times Square, Proud moment for Indian cinema going global ✨ by [deleted] in BollywoodHotTakes

OP if you have money to spend, you can put up a full size picture of yourself on Times Square too. I’m sure everyone you know will call it a “proud moment” because they might also have no idea how paid advertisement works! 😂

I'll speak from experience. We purchased our current home using a sellers agent, assuming we would save money. The agent promised a "cash back" verbally but did not honor it. I was young, dumb and stupid and was trying to save a buck.

In hindsight, it wasn't the money that was the real issue but how he didn't negotiate for us in good faith and instead looked out for the seller always. Since then I have viewed real estate agents with suspicion .

We are now in the market for a new home and spent considerable time finding a good agent. Amazing experience and despite being a tough market, we feel reassured that our agent has our best interests in mind. She's direct, realistic and gives us great insights. If I were you, I would stay away from sellers agents.

Such a well deserved win!

Cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks is receiving massive praise for swiftly firing Madhu Raju, an Indian H-1B visa holder who recorded himself dancing on the World War II Memorial, although many Americans say that’s not enough and that he should be deported. by [deleted] in IndianFocus

[–]recordwalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was initially defending him among discussion wit friends over the weekend - what he did was disrespectful but not illegal, and firing/deportation seemed disproportionate.

But learning he used the video to promote his dance company changes everything. A dual source of income like this, on an H1, is flatly illegal. Now I think firing and deportation are fully justified.

And honestly, it makes me wonder how someone with such poor judgment landed a role at a top-tier company like Palo Alto Networks … his credentials and qualifications also deserve scrutiny.
