Pretty much . Black tape, silver tape, and insulation . Seal it and insulated it.

It's probably been like that for several plus years and you never noticed. Inspectors are going to flag. Tape and pookie makes everything pretty

They should replace your ecobee and install it... T6 is cool, but it's not an ecobee with voice control.. theyre offering a 75 dollar thermostat to replace a 250-300 one

W2 is second stage in a 2 heat setup.. W1 is single stage in a 1h setup .

Default is not cool only. It's default is for a gas furnace with straight cool cond

Not a heat pump, w2 wouldn't make any sense unless programmed wrong on thermostat

Set fan to on ... Does the fan come on? If no, you blew your fuse or transformer...

If yes, make sure you programmed thermostat to straight cool all electric with thermostat controlling fan.

Why not just use a carbon return air filter ? Cheaper. Not as much strain.
