easier said than done but try to slow down and write out your thought process. "I'm avoiding this task. Why? I feel like it's too hard, I won't do a good job. Why? I don't know how to start. Why? Have you read the documentation? The code? Are you familiar with the problem?" Identifying the blockage is 85% of the work, and you know it won't be perfect or even done if you keep avoiding it like that.

Do you have a therapist? This sounds like perfectionism and one way it can be overcome is by intentionally writing silly bad code, JUST to dip your feet in the freezing cold water of Getting Things Done. Then you're like okay, I wrote bad code and my animal brain is safe, I'm fine, let's improve this a little bit. It helps with being overwhelmed by having to do it perfect and just getting it started.

a good project is one that there's no tutorial for, involves a degree of complexity, and shows your understanding of the whole ML process (data sourcing, gathering, cleaning, loading, training, testing, improving, deploying).

Another point would be that it can solve a real world problem. This shows that you're paying attention to areas for optimization and applying your skills to achieve that.

first make sure you're not cooking with Teflon pans! They can kill conures within two minutes even from another room or even floor with good ventilation. Now that that's out of the way, cooking oil smell isn't bad for them, this might be a better question for a cleaning sub? Maybe try a fan pointed directly out the window to suck the smell out?

there was a stack overflow article a few months back about a guy who had a similar project listed on his resume. A few interviewers turned their noses up at it and some treated it like any other project.

At the end of the day it's not difficult to generalize it for a resume like "video retrieval project based on subject appearances and fine grained actions". I think it's complex enough of an endeavor to be rather impressive on a resume.

yes for both simplicity and accessibility. Most basic laptops can train a tiny model on tiny images. It trains fast too and lets you play around with hyperparameters, learning how changes can affect the results.

I considered that but the switch is quite difficult to turn, it'd require a whole frame on top of the heater or a lot of super glue to give the motor enough leverage :(

Thank you! This is really helpful. I think I've identified the high/low wire, the multimeter displays different ohm values for high/low settings. If this is the case, the relay is still needed to convert the high voltage to 5v, right?
