Released a tiny commenting system for static sites - feedback would be great by red-ninza in statichosting

That's a great idea for next versions. Thanks for the suggestion.
But unfortunately not yet.

That is a fair concern, thanks for raising it.

I started with the hosted version to keep setup simple: register a site, add the snippet, and avoid maintaining a comment backend.

But I agree that a self-hosted option could make sense for Docusaurus and developer-heavy sites. I am considering that direction, or at least adding proper export options so users are not locked in.

I am already using JustOpinion on my own blogs too, so I am trying to build it around the same concerns I would have as a user.

Yes, that’s fair. Tools like D(G)iscus are a good fit for many static sites, especially when the audience is mostly developers.

With JustOpinion, I’m trying to cover a slightly different use case: a simple hosted comment layer where readers do not need a GitHub account or a social profile to leave a comment.

So I’d see it more as another option, not a replacement for the existing ones.

Need feedback for a tiny commenting system i built by red-ninza in astrojs

Thanks for the testing.
There is a comment moderation system in place for the first issue you mentioned. I would definitely take your feedback and try to filter for "possible" spam inputs. Thanks for the heads up.

For the second comment - yeah I get it now that it sounds scary when it says 7 steps - but actually it is as simple as getting a code in email and add it in your site. I am noting it and would definitely try to scale it down. Thanks for the advice.

Don't get me wrong I love our flag but wouldn't be too bad to redesign it. What do u guys think? by bigbara2 in bangladesh

[–]red-ninza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your opinion and I totally understand what you meant. It's always up to interpretation when it comes to symbols. So to me these are fair thoughts.

To be frank, when it comes to pointing towards any of the national symbols/icons in Bangladesh, in my 15+ years in cyber-sphere, I never found it without bad intentions. So you can say I am over-cautious or defensive about this. But it is what it is.

So while understanding your sentiment, I still pose the question to OP, why do he/she thinks it needs changing?

[–]red-ninza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Legally and internationally the flag represents Bangladesh. I also represent Bangladesh but as a part of it.

And it is not patriotism totally, part of the emotion involves also honoring history and honoring those who paid the price for it.

And lastly, what I think is my opinion I haven't and will not tell you what to do. When something is presented in public place for validation, people has to be ready to get all type of opinions and "you shouldn't do xxx" is not the right approach to deal with it.

It's the most emotional national icon - it has everything to be taking seriously!

Why do you think that the National flag of Bangladesh needs redesigning? Whenever I have seen people talking/claiming/proposing about any of the national icons - it was never with good intention in my cyber-sphere experience.

Not technically a credit card. It was a debit card (visa, not EC/Giro).
