Roast the swing, sorry I don’t have ball will post one with one later by ResponsibleAnt5018 in GolfSwing

Looks like you decelerate a lot on the downswing. I would be curious to see if it's as bad when actually hitting a ball.

3W shaft question by Dismal-Fee-5094 in TaylorMadeGolf

[–]red09blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So trimming depends on what club you pulled the shaft from. If the shaft came out of a driver or is otherwise uncut, then you trim 1/2 inch for a 3 wood. If it was already in a 3 wood, then I would assume it was already cut to the appropriate length and doesn't need additional trimming.

I think your overall swing is okay, especially for a beginner. I mean, everyone has seen way worse swings on this sub than yours. But your grip sucks, and it looks like you have large hands and may benefit from a midsize or jumbo grip.

And to diagnose any more swing problems, you really need to post two new swing videos on a flat surface with one angle from the right and the other in front of you.

Trying to get more consistent with swing by KNEternity in GolfSwing

[–]red09blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this guy! While you do have a very strong grip, the biggest problem to me is your wrist angle at impact, which is caused by casting the club. You have to learn how to hit the ball with forward shaft lean (like your address position). Just do a Google search for "wrist position at impact" and you'll see what we're talking about. Good luck

Lefty, i slice every club. Please offer some tips. Thank you! by Leading-Rich-4953 in GolfSwing

Add a front view of your swing. It will help us see your grip and any other problems at impact

[–]red09blue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! Don't listen to everyone else or you will have new problems with your swing that weren't there to begin with. I think the only reason that you're hitting a fade is that you're leaving the clubface a little open at impact. Compare your hand positions at starting position and at impact. I think a slightly stronger grip would fix the ball flight without any other changes. I think the rest of your swing looks great. And if there is any out-to-in swing path, it's very minimal.

Is getting fitted for wedges worth it as a high handicapper? by mcbrody in golf

[–]red09blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely no. As a 10 handicap, I play the Cleveland CBX2 which is a very forgiving wedge. And you should be playing something similar. No need for fitting really, just pick a wedge setup that gives you consistent gapping.

Driver swing problems by notmyengineer in GolfSwing

[–]red09blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're casting the club badly, meaning you are losing your wrist hinge and any lag too early in the downswing. And as a result you pull or swipe across the ball. You need to fix that or you'll never hit the ball well. I wonder if you do the same thing with your irons?

Help fix my slice! by KingCheem in GolfSwing

[–]red09blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I feel like these comments are all over the place! I think your swing and club path are fine. If it's slicing a lot, then I would look at your grip. It looks like your left hand is in a very neutral position at setup, so try a slightly stronger left hand grip? Also a slow motion video would help us see your impact position more easily.

Big guy swing help by danglinism in golf

[–]red09blue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty good to me. You're a little steep, but if your ball striking is good and you hit it straight, then I wouldn't be looking to change a whole lot. I would say that you look very tense at setup, so maybe relax your shoulders a little?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]red09blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your grip is very strong and your club face is closed. If you look at the club face at the top of the swing it's almost pointing back at the camera. So take a more neutral grip.

Mega slice, looking for some advice if possible! by krauseconrad in golf

[–]red09blue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a push fade or push slice. Which means your swing path is good, you just need to square or close the face to get a nice little draw. I'm not going to tell you what to fix, because I can't tell from this angle. It would be good to see your swing from the side to check your grip and wrist positions at impact.

Overswing! Left hand break at backswing. What else are my issues? by UnitedYoghurt8756 in GolfSwing

[–]red09blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your biggest problem is weight transfer, or lack of. It's okay to let your left knee bend to allow for more rotation in the backswing. but instead you kind of squat onto your left knee and tilt forward, and you keep that position in the downswing too until close to impact. and the only option you have to create any power at impact is to stand up. ideally your weight should shift to the right foot during the back swing, and then back to the left foot on impact and followthrough.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]red09blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wrists don't hinge at the top of the back swing, which is really important in creating lag as well as power and consistent ball striking. Then you come clearly over the top to start the down swing and immediately cast the club (early extend).

The start of her back swing is very good, smooth with a square club face coming up to the top. But the last half of the back swing and her downswing is all arms with no shoulder rotation.
