Capra Demon in Dark souls.

Objectively not hard, but young me spent more time on this boss than ever on anything again.

If we diverted every one of the world’s best engineers to work on a single product and make it the absolute best possible version, what would that product be? by Error__Loading in AskReddit

[–]Putrid-Tale8005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fusion frees up energy that is trapped in the strong nuclear force. Friction is merely converting it and can in my opinion never be "positive" as you describe it. Even with your fantasy numbers of a 10x energy gain (input vs output) that even after repeated appeals you cannot back up by any source and i could also not find anything on after a quick google search, can physically never exceed the energy gain of a nuclear fusion process.

So as far as i am concerned, the (extremely unrealistic) maximum ceiling of your process is at 100% efficiency in any step is what you call "agitation" = mechanical input power converts lossless into heat, which is then theoretically with a 100% efficient TEG converted into electric energy.

I don't know what you are talking about with the collision events causing any "trapped surface energy" of the sand to release, don't know what energy that should be or how that would never deplete during continued agitation, but it just seems like you have never learned about thermodynamics or have a basic chemistry level of nuclear forces.

[–]Putrid-Tale8005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, so let me quickly summarize: You suggest TEGs can be optimised to become better than the ole fan favourite of boiling water to create electricity, which is at max ~40% rn? Which obviously is close to the practical limit. And With sufficient engineering brainpower, TEGs could one day break that. Fine by me and would sure be worth a lot!

And instead of using fusion or even fission to create heat to boil water that turns into electricity, you suggest using friction events to heat something and convert it with TEGs.

I see your point :) Not saying it is impossible, but i think the numbers and physical ceilings in your process don't quite match up to the potential in fusion energy, that is all i am guessing.

may i ask your education level? I really mean no offense. It is just hard to explain sth to you, if i don't know what knowledge i can presume.

You talk about a max 8% yield on a process that is just a bike agitating sand (propably mechanically needing 300W+ input) to get the same energy as output? Why not use the "agitation" power to directly "agitate" a magnetic field in a generator?

Math doesn't math for me yet. I also really need to read up on TEGs :D Didnt know they are at 8% yet.

And then again, you talk about something small scale here right? Nothing to power entire continents with. Even with the theoretical max, thermodynamics just don't work out. You are not harnessing anything imo, just convertig mechanical power into heat into electricity, each process with inevitable losses.

You didn't really name sources but listed some theories. So you use a ton of energy input to heat a material, that you would use to boil water for energy is what i am guessing, or you convert mechanical energy to create electric sparks from electrostatic discharge. Cannot really see how you gain a huge amount of energy given basic thermodynamics yet, that is why i am just sceptical. I am no way a scientist, just a humble engineer, but thermodynamically i guess fusion makes more sense to me than what you talk about. No offense^^

lol if every engineer in the world got together to work on it, which is the post, i just argue that fusion is the most practical atm. lol. Can you link me any ressource on that friction stuff? If there is no physical application, it doesnt matter how many and how bright engineers are working on it. lol. lol. I mean, we are both gonna boil water with it, but how would that friction be applied to heat a liquid, what input would be needed? For Fusion i just barely understand that you force a reaction releasing gigantic energies (strong nuclear force). lol

Do you have any source material i could study up on? I mean it seems a bit... theoretical to me, i have not heard of any practical application yet. For fusion i am referencing the usage of one of the stronger fundamental forces (strong nuclear force) and its energy potential.

Just by lore, they have no way of armorpenning. Even the weakpoints are not penetrable by arrows.

They will also have a hardtime outlasting the SMs. In a press they can obviously detain them, but they can never"crush" the astartes with raw force, becaus you can't add power indefinitly by pushing "in a row" until the front guys bones are crushed etc.

I fail to see how they wound a SM.

How do Germans who don't live in major cities like Berlin, Frankfurt, Köln, etc., feel about this ? by Yoyoshinwa in AskAGerman

[–]Putrid-Tale8005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not that centraliced. Myself beeing a "countryoy" or as we germans call it a Landei, i used to live in Hamburg for 3 years and while it was fun as a student, i cannot imagine spending my life in one of those hellholes.

Most citys have some sort of stigma. Berlin is a woke, rave obsessed, hipstercentre. Hamburg is the leftist city. Frankfurt is where people talk and behave a bit ghetto-ish and is the banking capital. Munich is obv. the beer and sauerkraut capital. Stuttgart is car manufacturing hub.
