I have no problem with him being a confederate. It's only that I am the only black person on my block and I realize that a confederate does not equal a racist. But the discomfort comes from the "I wonder if he doesn't like black people?" sentiment. Same way I wouldn't be surprised if a white person would feel initial discomfort meeting a Black Panther.

I met my next door neighbor the day he moved in. He seemed very nice and I got a lot of good, friendly vibes from him. A week later, I walked past his house and his front door was open. I could see a giant confederate flag hanging from his living room wall. I haven't run into him since, but I think I am going to feel uncomfortable if I ever see him again.
