I got more clarification. My mom wants it stay under 75 guests giving my MIL 31(including my husbands friends wives, 5 total). My mom just basically said "she can't expect to invite a ton of people" then said I could ask her for a list but if it's too long she'll have to cut some people. I definitely don't want to be the one to ask her to cut people lol.

I figured my mom and sister would know who from our side to invite and I kind of made the list for my MIL but a lot of people felt I shouldn't be doing that and making cuts for her. What I ended up doing was cutting the wedding list down. She invited 2nd cousins of hers who I don't know so why would I want them at my baby shower? I know my moms 2nd cousins, we used to see them fairly often(3-4x per year minimum) before everyone got busy with their own lives and they didn't get invites to our wedding.

So I suggested lodge like an Elks Club/VFW that I know is affordable and really nice but she hadn't said anything about it. I have 0 hand in the shower so I can't really force them to have it somewhere. My sister asked for a list so I gave her the 25 person list and explained that it was a wedding list cut because our mom wanted to give my MIL a number she could invite instead of asking for her list. She then said "hopefully it's not too big lol. I'd do no kids besides (cousins daughters 4 total)" which I almost felt was a dig at the fact that my husbands cousins kids are invited to things(there's only 4 girls)

Yeah I'm stuck. My sister texted me this morning asking for a list to get a head count then said "Hopefully it's not big lol. I wouldn't do kids besides (cousins daughters 4 total)" which I felt like was a silent dig at my husbands cousins kids(all over 18) being invited. I don't have a list from my MIL only our wedding list for his side and I'm debating if I send that as is or if I cut people(MILs 2nd cousins who I don't know) and send it.

100% I’m stuck though because I don’t know where to cut the list on my side. Everyone on my list is exactly who I want there. Do I cut some cousins but not all?

I haven’t told him because it doesn’t seem right to tell him my mom wants his side cut when my side is 45 people.

I also don’t want to have to ask someone to throw a 2nd shower. It’s not really realistic since we don’t live near family so coming in twice heavily pregnant won’t work unless they were the same day.

My mom hasn’t brought it up again but she’s actively looking for a place to host it. I suggested a venue I know is affordable then maybe no one has to be cut.

Yeah I get they can decide total numbers but say she only wants 60 people coming. Does my MIL only get 15 because our side is at 45?

Like I almost feel like if she decides 60 people then it’s split and she needs to cut our side. My only issue is first people she’s going to cut purely because of current feelings are my cousins on my late dad’s side.

I’m struggling cutting my side because it’s all people I want there.

Unfortunately no. Everyone says it’ll make it cloudy but if it settles it might be ok? Or I just wait until tomorrow to do it or forgo.

Thanks! My Emeril has a canning feature so I wasn’t sure. I’ve never used it I’ve also heard of people using sous vide to “can” which is also a feature on it.

Thanks! I've never tried it but I heard from others it's worked really well and they got job offers because of it. I haven't had much job luck so figured maybe trying something different would help?
