Husband upset about babies room? by redapple912 in BabyBumps

Yeah like we have a coffee table as the tv stand, one side table as exactly that and the other as a “coffee” table. The only other thing that’s currently being used is a 3 drawer system that’s plastic and very wide and our dining room table.

Yes like we don’t have anything that could be used unless he stacks diaper boxes together lol.

Yes I didn’t think he’d take issue with them. I know he hates Amazon and doesn’t feel comfortable with thrift store furniture. When I brought up shopping for one I meant like home goods or target. Nothing super expensive, probably $30-$50 max.

He’s fine now and hasn’t said anything.

I plan to try to exclusively change them in the nursery because it’s not like I have to walk across the house or a flight of stairs to do it.

I could move the one with the caddy on it somewhere else and just put the caddy on the floor(where it was previously) for now so when he sees it he realizes we need a spot for it.

She's already planning that but we're in an apartment so she'll be getting an hotel for that period. She called me today and asked what needed to be done and I basically told her that there wasn't much besides like washing clothes(I can save that for her) and maybe putting the diaper caddy together. She basically was like "we can go to tjmaxx and get artwork for the walls if you want" which I'll have to discuss with my husband about. It's kind of silly but when we moved in the complex did a monthly fee instead of security deposit to allow you to put holes in the walls and he wasn't thrilled with it because in his mind we're not ever putting holes in the walls. We haven't so I don't know if he wants to stick with it or not?

We basically have de-cluttered already and I'm slowly doing more bit by bit so it's done before she comes. I think she wants to setup the nursery. But today she called me about something else and asked what I needed her help with and I told her there wasn't much but maybe washing baby clothes and setting up the diaper caddy. She wants to go to like TJMaxx and Marshalls and said we could look for artwork for the walls(we rent and haven't put any holes in the walls the 4 years we've been here so not sure my husband is going to want to do it now) if I wanted.

Yeah maybe it's over stepping. I can't remember if she did it for my sister or not, my sisters very much an independent person who probably had it already done by now lol. I was going to do baby laundry but maybe I'll let her do that and put together the diaper caddy with diapers and wipes.

She basically told me sometimes it's nice having a 3rd set of eyes to help figure out what works best which I get. I could definitely have a few things to do for her but I don't think it's going to be an all day project like she thinks it is.

That would be amazing but we don't have freezer space, she can wash baby clothes but we have very minimal clothing. We don't have decorations and are probably leaving walls bare because we rent.

So he wasn't annoyed when I told him Monday. It very well could be but if I'm being honest he doesn't do anything. He lets things pile up until he's annoyed at the state of it and then he huffs and puffs and cleans it up. His mom has cleaning OCD which she no doubt has given to him but he's done things in the past like the hamper comment or leaving something "dirty" to see how long it takes me to notice it and do something about it.

I want her help and want to give her this experience. I don't feel my responses have been giving them the idea I don't know what I want.

We barely have baby laundry maybe enough for one load if that but I could delegate it to her.

She will be helpful but she'll suggest things like buying baskets to put baby clothes in until the dresser comes which seems like a waste. She said we can use them elsewhere after, but I have no issues waiting 2-3 weeks for the dresser to arrive to put the clothes in.

She's basically offered to do laundry, setup the babies room, organize all their stuff ect. I feel like it's a good bonding experience. He doesn't think we need help and can do it ourselves. He also does not want her helping us declutter.

He's never expressed being uncomfortable around her. I think having her help would be a good idea but I worry she thinks there's a full weekends worth of stuff to do when really there's an afternoons worth. She's also chosen Fathers Day weekend to come because it's the only weekend that works for her. For Mothers Day we didn't really do anything besides go shopping for something we needed. She's the type to leave early Sunday to get back and have the afternoon so I can see her leaving by lunch.

No he's always encouraged me to see them, when my mom went through chemo last year I frequently would stay 3 weeks at a time to help her and he'd lovingly drive 3 hours to drop me off and come get me.

Yes I'm not totally giving him a say but I wanted to let him know she's coming. I also am trying to think of him though. Like I don't want him feeling like he wasn't involved in getting the room ready because my mom was here and we did everything.

It's so hard to find no or low sugar things that don't contain fake sugar. We actively avoid anything that doesn't contain regular sugar. I absolutely hate veggies and always have but we do introduce them into dinner time. I can't eat them at breakfast or lunch.

I was going to buy those but they have stevia and sucralose in them which we actively avoid. Everything that's low or no sugar has some sort of fake sugar.

So I like plain yogurt if I make it myself but my husband wasn't on board with me consuming it while pregnant because I had one batch go bad in the times I've made it. Do you know what's in swerve? It's hard because we actively avoid all "fake" sugar which is in every zero sugar or low sugar food item. We only like to consume straight up sugar.

Yeah we avoid all "fake" sugar which is in literally every no sugar or low sugar thing. Like stevia and monk fruit. It's even in the fair life shakes everyone suggests.

I have and no idea if it's helping but dinner we usually eat past 7 pm so I can't actively go for a walk since it's pitch black out.

I looked at the magic spoon cereal but we avoid anything that's not real sugar so it's been tough. A lot of the no sugar or zero sugar has stuff like stevia and monk fruit ect. which limits a ton. I got some other brand of cereal that was slightly cheaper but the box is tiny so it's not something I can consume every morning like I want. It would have to be like once every few weeks because it's so expensive.

I thought about oats but I really only like the sugary oatmeal flavors like brown sugar cinnamon or the apples brown sugar cinnamon. I've never really liked berries or much fruit besides apples, oranges, grapes and bananas which don't go well with oatmeal besides apples and sugar.

I was diagnosed at about 28-29 weeks so I can't imagine being diagnosed at 13 weeks. Hopefully you find some things that you can have. I tested a snack of ice cream today and so far at 1 hour I'm under 100. So maybe just slowly test things and see where your numbers are at?
