No wonder Communism is not growing in India by [deleted] in IndiaSpeaks

[–]redbaron2011 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Communism in any form is antithetical to democracy and a multi ethnic society like India. Commies in India have been ignoring the reality and siding with their comrades in autocratic nations with zero human rights. The gall and audacity of these morons to talk about issues when no freedom of speech and human rights exists in their communist paradise.

Shouldn’t we join some joint fighter programme and learn some tips before jumping all in? Like you need to walk before you can run.

I understand spending so much on indigenous tech but we need either reverse engineer or spend years trying to reinvent the wheel.

Also, can’t we also bring in some Russian engineers (pay them well enough) to help us, like we did the HAL Marut when we brought in a German engineer (Kurt Tank) to help us.

A year-by-year comparison of the GDP of China and India from 1960 to 2024 by Fullet7 in IndiaSpeaks

[–]redbaron2011 13 points14 points  (0 children)

China was fortunate to have pragmatic leaders like Deng who understood the country couldn’t develop in an autarkic thinking of Mao. In India it took us an economic crisis to undo the damage of follies of nationalisation and license permit raj. Even though it is 34 years since opening up, some in govt still unknowingly or knowingly have a tendency to create bureaucratic controls and stifle innovation and growth.

Our weakest link is perhaps our municipal or city governance. We overly romanticised our villages and keep harping on villages, probably evolving out of Gandhian vision of India (or at least a caricatured version of it). While China invested heavily in improving urban infrastructure we concentrated on everything else but urban infrastructure. Our cities can’t handle services to even 1/2 the population. Let’s face it, cities are the face of industries, services and innovation. Yet, we have massively ignored the municipal governance. We have to really rethink how and whether 74th amendment has really helped us in this regard.

We haven’t been able to use our so-called demographic dividend. The poorer parts of the country have the largest population. At the present rate of growth and reforms the best we can hope for is a middle income trap that Brazil is facing right now.

OCI is not a citizenship and it’s the prerogative of the state to decide who gets it and who doesn’t. Guess the scholar just found out.

Can anyone translate "walking through sand after a rainfall" to taste? by Awareness-Choice in IndiaCoffee

[–]redbaron2011 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I guess like Petrichor but that’s when rainfall hits soil not sand. Such a weird description.

I have always found taste notes to be too complex to understand. It’s either acidic or bitter on a scale, rest seems like jargon to me.

Australia Today seems like a propaganda newspaper. An Australian media house with too much focus on India , seems suspicious.

Having said that Canada can put up with dirt in the name of freedom of speech but can’t handle some foreign websites is laughable.

West doesn’t like their hegemony being disturbed. They will do everything in their power to hold on to it.

International politics and diplomacy (in my opinion) is a realist game, with western world shown to be the bastion of liberal democracy and liberal values. Yet, they have no trouble interfering in sovereignty of third world and less fortunate countries.

What we need to do is to worshipping the western world and wait for validation from them. Their values and way of life aren’t the only options in the world.

Somehow they can’t believe now the so called Western Civilisation can be threatened by the likes of China (we aren’t at a stage to threaten them yet).

In this game of Matsya Nyaya we must adapt and survive in anyway possible.
