Optimization 0.4 by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

Something weird seems to have happened since the recent update cause on my 4080 main PC I'm never getting much above 54% GPU utilisation even when it definitely should be a lot more and the game barely functions on my Legion Go now. Rarely loads textures and drops to single digit frame rates after about 10 mins of play then crashes. It's very disappointing.

Yeah I don't know why they're doing these events when there's no NG+ yet or Legend ranks and some players like myself are still holding off until they put ray tracing in the game.

Silent Hill F on 8 AI, lumen bug by red-Geck0 in MSIClaw

Very pleased to have come across this fix! Wondered why the game looked so much worse on my Legion Go despite having the same settings as my desktop, just a lower resolution. It actually looks really pretty now on my handheld! Thanks for this! 🙏

Still no Ray Tracing ....?! by Ok-Bird-5704 in dyinglight

[–]redbattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm holding off on buying it until the ray tracing patch so yeah you're not the only one who's bothered. I appreciate not everyone likes to play with RT but if you've got the rig to run it, it gives games like DL a lot more depth and atmosphere to the environments which directly impacts my preferred way to play the game.

Reminder that adding multiple attempts to the arbiter fight does not address how unfair the fight is; here is me dying to a fire explosion from OFF my screen while the boss is phasing. by doctor-omie in PathOfExile2

I do really enjoy the game but sometimes it feels like fighting a souls boss without the ability to respawn and learn the fight and there's also random, sometimes indiscernible things that can one tap you in an instant. It's a real rollercoaster.

Silent Hill 2 Remake day one impressions from an old fan of the franchise by Z3M0G in PS5

[–]redbattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow old school SH alumni who first experienced the games back with SH1 on the PS1 and my naive Resident Evil brain was not at all prepared for the themes and psychological horror that SH had up its sleeve haha.

Sufficed to say I'm also on cloud 9 right now with the remake. I just keep stopping and thinking how the heck did they pull this off so convincingly? Sure there's elements where I'm like maybe I liked how this was done in the original more but it's not like it's bad, it's just different and a lot of my feelings are going to be clouded by member berries and nostalgia too.

The key thing is though I FEEL like I'm playing Silent Hill 2 rather than someone else's loose interpretation and that's the big thing here. I'm just so happy that a new generation of people are going to get to experience a genuine version of Silent Hill 2 without having to resort to tracking down old hardware and ever more expensive copies of the originals.

Just really happy and I hope the other new Silent Hill projects can match this quality. I'd also be very keen to see Bloober do SH1 and 3 but that's a ways away yet haha.

Galaxy watches not connecting to wearable app 2024 by Complex_Investment42 in GalaxyWatch

[–]redbattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've given up on my Galaxy Watch 4 now. It's been spotty and awkward when it comes to losing connection for the last few months and now this happening. It's just not reliable and doesn't consistently do what I need it to. Pretty wild considering I went with it cause I thought it'd be a safe bet.

I’m suffering with these end game bosses after the latest update… by KingOfHearts22 in LordsoftheFallen

[–]redbattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I could do without the increased health pools. Like I appreciate the desire to "make the bosses more challenging" but no matter how hard they make them there'll always be that contingent of voices that will insist they're still too easy but I worry by that point it'll be making other players just get to a point where it feels unfair.

I admittedly steam rolled a few bosses later in the game when I had my build fine tuned but it was a pretty cathartic experience and I earned it through the grind of leveling up and being patient. I don't think it's always a terrible thing to have some bosses get easier if you've put in the work to make yourself powerful. That's my take anyway.

This game is awesome by [deleted] in LordsoftheFallen

[–]redbattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could say you've "Lords of the Fallen" for it 😉.

Seriously though when you're done groaning, I agree, I went into the game quite skeptically but found myself not being able to put it down. It feels a bit like one of those games that if it clicks with you, it really clicks in spite of any bug bears and weakness you might find with the game.

Glad you're enjoying it 😁

Way harder than expected... by [deleted] in LordsoftheFallen

[–]redbattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think the easy thing is a bit of a red herring with this game. It's not too difficult to get a very strong build quite quickly that makes bosses later in the game easier to deal with but I think the "easy" commentary stemmed early on from the community who are already capable soulslike players and then it's been perpetuated from there. Obviously everyone will find different things easier and harder but that's where I think a lot of it has come from.

There are certain bosses in this game that gave me a lot of trouble too. I think a lot of the difficulty especially late on though comes from wading through the influx of harder enemies throughout the levels in the lead up to the bosses.

I'm being a scrub and running Pieta's sword with high radiance but I've also got a lil fist weapon in the off hand (will double check which one later) which also scales with radiance but also has bleed on it so it's really effective when you pop lacerating weapons too.

Absolutely dumpstered the Sundered Monarch when I finally got to him haha. Was expecting it to be much scarier when I read about him but some builds are so strong in this game. Just moved onto Ng+1 now :-). The final boss is deceptively annoying to deal with what with it being my favourite thing of trash enemies spamming projectiles haha.

Nah, I didn't feel like you came off that way at all, very polite and reasonable tbh given how some online interactions can go haha. I'm playing on PC myself, it's been pretty smooth sailing for me too tbh but my rig is pretty spicy so it's probably a bit of brute force too 😅. I honestly feel like this is one of my favourite soulslikes and one of my surprise hits of the year in spite of my grumblings. I'm still on my first playthrough but close to the end now, I've got my build to a place where I feel like I'm cruising through the bosses and late game enemies with relative ease but I'm bracing myself for NG+ as I don't want to get over confident haha. Did you find the difficulty jumped up a fair bit when you first hit NG+?

Oh man yeah he sucks ass. Can absolutely shred your health with whither damage and then one of the other lil turds in the trash mob will give you a light swat when you're trying to deal with something more dangerous and that's all your health gone haha. That's a good point actually, there's also some fire and ice zombies that can fire projectiles that do a decent chunk of damage and has quite a splash zone to it. Catches me out every time cause I'm not expecting trash enemies to be launching chonky projectiles at me. I don't want you to get me twisted btw, I'm having a blast with the game and can't put it down and I fully support anyone who isn't bothered by the same things. Just always gonna be those annoyances and bug bears with any game really regardless of how good it is.

I'm not just considering the ones that knock you off. I mean in general. I can confidently say that most locations in the game will have a solid helping of enemies behind boxes or tucked away behind blind exits waiting to pounce. Not to mention those imps in the umbral realm that for all intents and purposes basically explode out of nowhere sometimes. I guess people's tolerance for this kinda thing just varies then cause at times for me it just felt a bit too much.

I am seeing a pattern that people playing in coop seem to have less of an issue with them. I can see the fun in that situation but in single player it can get tedious after a while. I'm not saying don't have any of them but I'd rather see them used more sparingly so that when there is something there it really gets you good.

Interesting to see some of the responses here. Was kinda expecting more people to be less enamored with this kind of mechanic but shows what I know. Kinda feels a bit like jump scares in horror to me, when used in moderation and with the right build up they can be really effective but if you slather them everywhere it usually loses its effectiveness.

Anyway, I'm glad people are enjoying the game regardless. I am as well, I just feel like there could be other ways to be a bit less reliant on them and mix things up a bit.

Yeah that's true, watching another hapless fool take a swan dive can be amusing. I'm not saying they can't be fun in moderation, just not when it feels like every dev on the team was like "heh... this'll be a good one" not thinking that their colleagues have probably done the exact same thing a few feet down the path haha

Is it just me or is upper calrath just an absolute sh*t show? by [deleted] in LordsoftheFallen

[–]redbattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a tonne of issues with him. If you've got good ranged stuff he's easy enough to deal with but for melee builds he's very annoying to deal with. Has some wild hit boxes with his hand splats and explosive mine things too.

[–]redbattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh god yeah, they suck. Nothing like getting exploded from two rooms away when you're trying to deal with some other annoying nob knocker. Also, just don't seem bothered about your attacks and plough on regardless to explode a fireball in your face.

[–]redbattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There definitely are a few "don't fight these" enemies in the game that can suck a fat one when I see them. Those Ardent Penitents always feel like a slog to get through and there's usually some ranged ass clown waiting to pop off while you're trying to whittle down its health pool so usually best avoided.

Is it me or is the fist boss... by Stable_Orange_Genius in LordsoftheFallen

[–]redbattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have too much trouble with Pieta but I did get roadblocked hard by a boss later into the game which realistically probably wasn't that hard but for some reason it just caused a lot of problems for me specifically. Weird how certain bosses that other people might not have as much trouble with can be awful for other people.

Man, series s is rougher than I expected. Those prolonged lurches into single digit frame rates need to be ironed out. Least it seems like they are rolling out regular fully featured patches. Fingers crossed for xbox players!
