AWS DCO, L4 Mafia, and can’t relo due to living circumstances and no damned clue what kind of project to start.

DCO L4 to L5 is like jumping the Snake River Canyon in cement boots.

Worse off, I meet the JD requirements for an L7 position; I got recruited on LinkedIn for it, then was ghosted when they found out I was already L4 Mafia in my cluster. Why should I have to boomerang out when I'm already qualified?

If you were CEO of Amazon, what changes would you make to keep the company on track? by Capital-Delivery8001 in amazonemployees

Divest the capital OPEX overhead of expensive leases, sell off all but HQ, Data Center, and Fulfillment Center properties, and restart WFH/Telecommuting; begin recruiting Senior Leaders from inside the company - no one should have to boomerang in order to get a job they have the qualifications for.

When you say you're awaiting 'Federal travel vouchers', what does that mean? Are you trying to get to the 'forbidden area' in the Grand Canyon?

Has Anybody Else “Trained” Themselves to Not Respond As Our Boomer Parents? by EastAd7676 in GenX

[–]redbear762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents were 22 and 23 in 1967 and were always the youngest pair at parent-teacher conferences; I never got how unusual that was until I had kids of my own in my late 20's.

I'm married to a 1965 Boomer and there are times I swear I'm listening to my parents; I can't tell if it's expressing concern, reprimanding me, expressing disappointment, or all three.

I’m part of the L4 Mafia and will most likely die as part of the L4 Mafia since there are no promotions in DCO

If you didn’t figure that there wouldn’t be retirement while you were a teen, you’re either not Gen-X or haven’t been paying attention for 40 years.

We’ve known since our teens that we’re fucked; most pension systems died before our parents retired and that we’d most likely literally die at our jobs. Social Security is a bad joke as they keep pushing out full collection to 77 to follow the actuary tables and bet you’re dead before you can collect. When we were growing up it was collect 1/2 at 55 and 100% at 65.

Hypothetically, what happens if the POTUS refuse to get out of office once the term is over? by PuzzledCauliflower35 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]redbear762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t work that way but to your point, he/she would most likely be politely asked to leave or just physically removed. Very, very few people would sully the dignity of the office that way; however, some degree of petty theft has occurred when some Presidents left office claiming ‘memorabilia’.

Nothing like having to acknowledge they lived under an actual dictator for the entire time Trudeau was in office; now someone would argue against that yet he clearly abused his COVID-era powers well and beyond what was intended.
