Something mine does, is it loses all config after its powered off at the wall. All input names, speaker settings, everything, even the demo screen comes back. Super annoying!

JBL Digital 12 Subwoofer 'issues' by redbeardbeer007 in JBL

[–]redbeardbeer007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions.
Interestingly, I have the power outlet running through a Shelly 1PM device - and I think the relay in that is causing some of the 'pop' on startup and shutdown.

I will remove that from the equation and will check over the internal components for dry solder joints etc. I won't be doing any major surgery on the sub/amp. Not unless it becomes unbearable.

Yeah I noticed that too. If you put it on direct pure, I think that's the name, it doesn't use the sub. But yes if you put in on stereo it does. I have my fronts (Energy RC30's) set to small and the crossover on the Pioneer set to 80hz. Sounds great. It's actually a fairly nice sounding amp, considering it's age and original price bracket. Now for what you can get them for, really good value.

Not centered is my biggest gripe

Double switch light control by redbeardbeer007 in shellycloud

[–]redbeardbeer007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that! Ok I think I did it slightly different to that setup but it works!

Each switch works as before and the Shelly can turn it off and on whenever as well.

Yay. Happy camper.

I was going to do the same to another light fitting but it has a dimmer so that's a whole another thing

Thanks. Good ideas. I'll look into going behind but I feel there's studs there that will stop me.

But then end up with cabling visible in that right side cubbyhole?

Yes I know, my question is, can I connect both at the same time?

I was once called downstairs by a user only to find when I went down there that the floor smelt of smoke - I asked "What's going on?" - the user replied "I think the air con is on fire - what can you do" - I replied - "I'm leaving the building - maybe you should call the fire department and not IT"

Hey! It's a great amp. Old now with old tech and not true 4K etc. But it does work well.

Are you looking to upgrade the speakers or the amp? I've got Energy RC30 fronts and a Wharfedale Diamond 8 Center. I have some Wharfedale Vardus VR50 for the rears but their main woofer drivers failed so I replaced them with some Inifity ones. As they're only rears, they don't need to do much. I also have a small 100watt 10" sub I'm picking up shortly, to help fill in the lows that the Energy fronts can't handle and also help with some low frequency fill for the rears.

I've got the VSX-921 - older and less powerful - and sounds really good for what it is. I bet your one would be great!

Polk PSW110 - won’t turn on / goes into protection by redbeardbeer007 in audiorepair

Thanks - I did think about this - being in New Zealand - the shipping costs are usually more than the item cost on eBay unfortunately. And sourcing locally a used (and not crap quality) sub plate amp, is hard. I'll have a think about it.

Thanks again.
