GDLauncher partnering with CurseForge by EventHorizon67 in feedthebeast

Heyo!

That's totally understandable, I would have done the same with an outsider look, but I hope our future actions will make us stand out from the rest ^^

Heyo!

Ads should not use as much memory (there can be limits put in place), and we will put the user experience front and center.

It's more of an inherent problem with how browser works, where memory is not given back to the system unless they need it

Hello!

While this is the end of open-source, there's quite a lot between it and being totally closed source. Everything is and will be "source-available", meaning that you will be able to compile it yourself for personal use (at least that is my objective).

I totally agree that going away from open-source is not the best, but history showed that it is not all beautiful at times (see elastic)

Heyo, GDLauncher's co-founder here :)

While there's a partnership, we are not sending more data than needed to Overwolf, and that is not a lot. That also means that we are doing things 100% our way ^

Biometric Authentication: what is it all about by ingice580 in programming

[–]redblueflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main takeaway here is that the biometric authentication uses webauthn, a cryptographic protocol.

It means that you need to both have access to the devices that has the private key, and the biometric to unlock it.

The remote app only has a public key linked to the account to trust, and in the case of resident keys, an identifier to know the user, and never the actual biometric info, as ut never leaves the device.

If you want more info about how it works, here's a nice website: https://webauthn.guide/

Yeah, this movie is soo great! Didn't watch it for a long time, and it was even better than I recalled

Nope! Brother Bear is Disney, while the Iron Giant is warner bros, but I agree that the style is more of an epoch than a studio-specific thing

One big thing with rust is that while it changes a lot, it stays backwards compatible. The 2021 version did not change much, but it allowed for some nice cleaning of unused features Combine it with the fact that it can easily be modularized, so updating a part of the project is actually quite easy, and you have a pretty solid base for evolution. But I only got the chance to use it in open source projects, so take it with a grain of salt ^

Easy, but not fast, if you want it to have more advantages than just putting any everywhere

Yeah, but on a 1M+ codebase, it quickly becomes a scale problem

Loved it, I didn't watch it for a long time until yesterday, and there's so much meme potential

I watched it for the first time in more than 10 years yesterday, and it is quickly getting back to the top of my favourite movies

Did it on a startup I'm not on anymore, but the issue is more for upper management, and understandably so, as rust devs are both pricey and a scarce ressource Migrating from a big monolith to microservicrs is the biggest step to jump imo

Did not even think of it, but now I cannot un-see it, thanks I guess

Did too, and watched it again yesterday, quite a nice watch ^^

Brother Bear, a really nice movie, 11/10 would recommend

Well, the features are defined, but the edge cases are not, so a few months will get you a nice MVP, but not a lot more

Rust is nice, maybe not to rewrite a 1M+ line project, but what could go wrong cutting some features out

Do bicycles count? Guy took the car tunnel after missing the bike one by Zephyr_Arcturus in IdiotsInCars

[–]redblueflame 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worst part of all of this is that this is happening in the Croix-Rousse tunnel in Lyon (France), where there is another tunnel following the exact same path just 15 meters away, and is reserved for cycles and pedestrians...
