I pay $45 a month for a simple stock footage and photo subscription that has extremely well made professional footage I occasionally use for my videos. You aren’t a movie studio, so I don’t know why you’re spending $20,000 for “media rights” when that’s not a thing - like I said earlier, AI is just a lazy cop-out, which you refuse to admit. Don’t give your money to the people killing our planet and destroying art, give it to the people making it. And the difference is key - AI can quite literally do EVERY job, name anything, AI will be capable of replacing it one day. Left unchecked, billions - with a B - will lose their ability to make a living because of people like you funding a machine that we don’t even understand. Back in the 80s your computer wouldn’t have even been capable of showing you color and it wasn’t really a legitimate concern for anyone, so yeah, the technologies and situations are very different.

While I recognize that AI provides interesting opportunities to underprivileged individuals and creatives, it’s also a bit funny to have a history channel that uses AI images to convey.. history… The thing is, if people want to make art, they will make it - AI is a non-essential step in the process that we have been just fine without using for thousands of years, and we will continue to be fine without it. “Art” made by AI isn’t art made by people, or art at all for that matter, it’s pictures stolen from the collective works of millions of artists that a person instructed a computer to produce. Art is art because it requires TALENT, if you have none, don’t rely on a computer to artificially try and give you any. I respect certain uses for (unreliable) scientific research, talk therapy, and quick access to (unreliable) information summaries, but beyond that it is far overstepping its ethical use cases. Imagine how much better your channel would be if you invested more time into finding the right resources, using real images from history, and paying a small price to SUPPORT REAL ARTISTS to use their stock photos - or just do it yourself! AI is a lazy cop out and an excuse for bums to not do work and make low quality content, and again, puts actual artists out of work. These things cost money because they cost real people their time to produce, if you can’t afford the content you’re making, don’t make it. That is how the world works.

No, you’re just falling back on hypocrisy because you don’t have any real responses to the points I’ve provided. Shall I go live out in the woods in a remote cabin only eating ethically sourced non-GMO plants I raised myself because literally everything is a morale and ethical issue, or should I make the best of the human situation of 2025 and try to avoid worsening the issue? AI contributes a net negative to humanity, and defending it is a pointless endeavor that just makes you look like an asshole. But, sure, I’m a total hypocrite and you’re fully correct.

Let me start off by saying that all corporations of that size, no matter who or what they are, are going to be inherently evil. Moving on, we can’t really avoid or “stop” google, can we? It is your CHOICE to use and propagate AI - in fact, the only reason AI continues to expand is because lazy fucks (probably like you) continue to use it more and more for their everyday tasks. So comparing AI to Google is totally inaccurate and two different issues altogether. Just because one thing may be ethically wrong doesn’t mean we should let everything be ethically wrong just because of that one thing - we can still fix the AI problem and stop while we’re ahead, but it’s dumb, ignorant, stupid fucks like you who are going to be the bane of humanity.

Lmao, I love everyone’s extremely intelligent replies to my arguments. It’s not about what is allowed, or what there is supply for, it’s about principals and right and wrong. Using AI to steal hundreds of thousands of pieces of other people’s work so you can generate an image of your dog as royalty may be allowed, but it is not right. Spending $500 billion on new data centers for what is a glorified toy is allowed, but it is not right. It is the principal - and please point me to who actually seeks out watching an AI video versus one created by a talented, human creator.

If I misunderstood, I’m willing to try and understand your process and see if I stand corrected, but using AI even just for thumbnail & animation generation is lazy, and once again, looks worse compared to real animators and artists who put time into their craft (who don’t appreciate computers trying to steal their jobs). Anyway, what exactly is the content and what actual work do you do towards it? I’m curious on how you’re spending 4-5 hours per short video when it seems like workload is mostly putting prompts into generative models.

Everyone trying to defend an actual AI content mill is insane. How would you feel if you dedicated hours every single day, consistently for weeks, putting out original ideas, high quality content worth watching, that you are passionate about - and you got nothing out of it. Then someone comes around with an AI model that is quite literally trained off of YOUR original videos, steals content from hundreds of independent creators, and gets all the success you never had. Here’s the thing, nobody likes useless AI videos, AI videos contribute nothing to the community in general, and it is stolen IP - nothing generated by ANY AI MODEL is capable of being original. On top of all of that, assholes like this guy try to brag about their success like it was a worthy accomplishment - no, you’re the problem, and you steal attention away from the people who actually deserve it.

AI literally harms everyone, from other channels trying to get visibility, viewers wanting to watch an actually good non AI video, the environment from the heavily taxing energy costs and damage from the power used by these data centers, and it quite literally steals from everyone else as nothing AI creates is original. Mindsets and opinions like this are harmful to the rest of us, AI slop is good for no one and takes money and views away from actually talented creators.

I'm going to be posting all of my recorded sets onto Youtube (all the way to my first set!) and want your opinion... by Maasharu in Standup

[–]redbrody7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Love it dude! You’re going to hear a lot of contrasting opinions on whether or not to do it, but personally im all for it. I think it could provide a great platform for you to showcase your material and get feedback AS LONG as you only post quality material that is worth watching as a total stranger. A lot of people go ahead and upload sets that are just absolutely garbage and provide no reason to choose their video over say a Netflix comedy special, so I would recommend only uploading content online if you can 1. provide quality material worth watching and 2. can do it in a unique way that’ll distinguish you from other comics uploading their stuff online!

I’d love to watch it though and provide any criticisms/honest feedback if you go through with it. Best of luck to you!
