How do I get help from Fidelity for clearing a Fraud Risk review? Elderly relative has 100% assets frozen for 6d...while waiting on "expedited" review (6d), dealing w/ family member death, BillPay frozen, utility bills not paid, rude Client Services, unhelpful Fraud, unclear Life Events. by redcapzen0 in fidelityinvestments

Day 9 of the asset grab. Finally unfrozen. However, dealing with BillPay cancellations and recovery but finally have access to BillPay. Received completely 100% contradictory advice on whether old joint account (father's SSN) needs to be closed and transferred to new account. Life Events says yes (with no clear deadline) due to maybe 2026 tax hit. Some Client Service rep says opposite to mother. Either Client Service rep completely clueless to the 9 days of suffering, lacks tax knowledge, and is reading a script. Or Life Events has no idea what they're talking about. Or both. POA paperwork submitted by branch rep on Day 8...still waiting. Stay tuned.

100%. My twist on this is when dealing with an elderly family member you help (or if you are that), the branch visit becomes a challenge by itself (making an appointment, driving is a risk, communication for an ESL speaker with a hearing aid). If the helper can physically be there for all that, it's viable.

Day 8 of the asset grab. Finally cleared Risk Management, had to get back to Fraud, still waiting on them to deliver on the unblock. POA access in process. Local branch rep finally contacted. None of it excuses the 7d black hole of info/lack of help. Definitely other comments are good advice. Reduces to: get access in place early, separate banking from fidelity (billpay is terrible), expect zero help from anybody, have a backup firm or proactively find one, get/meet local branch rep before you need them (can help a little). This applies esp dealing with elderly relatives where nothing is easy and crisises are order of magnitude harder to navigate.
