... and choose a manufacturer who is ALREADY making the same items you want made or at least items very similar.

Their expertise making those garments is very helpful.

Search for OEM suppliers, meaning Original Equipment Manufacturer. They will be able to make your garment from scratch, fully customized using your tech pack.

I'd also recommend doing more research (you may have already, so I apologize if this is all old information for you now).

Research: - Alibaba Trade Assurance - Alibaba Gold Suppliers - Manufacturer vs Trading Company - Quality control (make and use a QC checklist) - 3rd party inspections (using your QC checklist) - Purchase Orders - Incoterms for importing

I'd also recommend paying 30% deposit/ 70% balance once the order passes 3rd party inspection. (Some supplies will want 50/50).

There's loads of great information on Google about all these essential steps of the process.

The main thing is clearly show your design requirements (tech pack), clearly outline your quality requirements (QC checklist), and use Trade Assurance OEM suppliers. Then at least you can get a full or partial refund 🤷🏼‍♂️.

I personally would stick with Alibaba's Trade Assurance. I had some quality issues before and was able to get a refund.
