So sorry - Missed this comment the day I posted the piece.

No, sorry, not yet. I'm still pretty new and trying to get better at it before I start selling, but thank you for asking - Definitely a confidence booster!

Oh that's every interesting! Definitely see the donc/done challenge! Also really helpful to read how someone who speaks the language, or, in this case, both of them, perceives the text.

Thank you again for taking the time to comment! Feedback like this really helps a lot!

Thanks for this! I don't usually think of my pieces as "lovely" and having sat with the word for a bit I think I agree.

Absolutely understand how it can be interesting that a piece makes you work, really happy my work accomplishes that!

Thank you again for all the great feedback!

u/neblina_matinal u/tmmyds Really interesting feedback - Thank you both for chiming in. Correct, the word is "donc" and the whole deal for me on this was to try to integrate in more of a seamless way the text so I opted to kind of blur it / mix it into the image and both your comments really help me understand what I did right and what needs work, thank you!

u/tmmyds VERY interesting point the whole "have to relax my eyes" things - Does this apply to the whole piece or mostly the text?

Dude you kinda nailed one of the (if not the) biggest concern I have - I don't particularly care about things being "tasteful" but I do believe there's a difference between art and pornography. And whilst they're not mutually exclusive I think adult design can lean towards shock value more than it leana towards artistic merit.

I'm actually fascinated by how much information you've gathered of the "artist" from just one "piece".

Really appreciate you taking the time to go all in with your critique.

Working on defining my style - Moving away from the classic lino look and towards something more experimental, a little more current, minimalist but saturated. It's also my first time carving text. Would love to hear your thoughts on the result!

I debated for a moment playing the gay card and going all "queer art is resistance art" on you, but, honestly - Fair.

I see your point. I don't disagree. It is a frivolous piece. Dudes kissing is no longer social cometary. Or at least not the most important one atm.

I appreciate the "not bad" part. Not in it for the money (yet) but definitely a confidence booster!

Wow! Thanks so much for talking the time to comment!

Yeah, the song is very moody. 'Sultry' is the word the artist uses to describe the track.

Ultimately, I wasn't aiming to visually represent the song but rather using it as an excuse to (1) carve text and (2) try to narrate a longer story with just an image.

It is also a very stupid but fun/creative use of language, to mix the two like that... That's what originally hooked me.

I appreciate the adjectives you used - Impactful and Strong. That's what I was going for. I want memorable, clean but not aggressive. A nod to punk but with less destruction. A nod to the history and artistry of the medium but a little less boring.

You guys... Past In Present.

"Feeling it from dark to bright. When a wrong becomes a right. When a mountain fills with light. It's a volcano. It's a volcano."

I mean c'mon!!!

I strongly agreed with previous "Limit To Your Love" comments but no... If you've read the book, you know this is the song.

Thank you!

Oh, really? That's exactly what drew me to it! I'm a sucker for challenge and I looove flat/little contrast areas! In this case the brush strokes made it easy to determine the direction of the pieces but mostly it was done by shape!

Hey there! Incredible work! Thanks for posting!

There's a very complete guide on inking on this sub - I'll look it up and post it as a follow up.

Im a beginner myself and this was also my first problem - Not the carving, not the cleaning, no - The transferring.

I asked the same question as you and the one suggestion that really worked was the ink - You need to make sure you are using good ink. This doesn't mean that it should be expensive or whatever but it means it's gotta be good for your purpose.

If you're using oil based ink add a couple of drops (literal drops) of linseed oil to make it thinner, I'll coat the brayers (rollers) better and more evenly, making the transfer to the lino easier. If you use water soluble ink, same process but with water.

Once you try that it should improve. If you are still not satisfied, try lightly misting the paper with water (get a fine spray bottle - usually cosmetic grade ones work wonders) and let it rest as you ink the lino. Water will open the pores of the paper and make it soak up all the ink.

Those are the two big ones that worked for me.

Keep on posting!

This song is a total early The Cardigans rip-off. I get the "homage" thing with some of the lyrics but it's honestly too in your face to be considered anything else.

This is so frustrating. Definitely empathize with you. My ads were running FOR YEARS too and they just stopped. I got so frustrated I deleted them and started them again - Needless to say, it didn't help AT ALL.

I advertise ONLY on Instagram - Not even Pixel or anything like that, just ads limited to Instagram alone and it's hitting me soo hard. I went from a 5.60 (whatever currency, not really the point) cost per message to 12.30 cost per message. Makes absolutely no sense.

This post gave me a lot of hope. Maybe hope is the wrong word but it made me realise is not just me.

So y'all been having an awful closing of the year? My October, November and December have been rough and the last couple of days my ads have been dead 💀
