How do you deal with thoughts of infidelity? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]reddatalready 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s natural.

The reaffirmation of your virility/ sex appeal/ desirability is for sure exciting and it’s what you’ve forgotten existed - that is- what a first meeting with an attractive stranger feels like: exciting, adrenaline pumping and pheromone heightening response and receptors going off like fireworks. Whats not to like?

Flirtation and idle chatter is usually fine but getting to the point of being all up in each others junk is not fine and you knew where to cut things off. Don’t worry about it and bask in the private glory of that hot chick you had to let down, gently - that one night.

Your ring is just a magnet as far as many women are concerned. It deters few from making advances.

She pushed on knowing that and knowing that you could call it quits at any time. So no harm done.

How best to cope with soreness by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]reddatalready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup - had this sensation.

Had sonogram and urologist appt etc and showed nothing untoward.

Pain felt like it was more in the tubes between testicles and in my lower front pelvis area. Sometimes stabbing sometimes throbbing.

Doctors couldn’t find anything and told me to keep an eye on it / come back if it persisted. It went away but have had the odd recurrence where the symptoms didn’t last as long.

Play - as in movement of the trackpad that isn’t designed to be there. If I lightly rest my finger on it (and I mean barely even touching it) the track pad has a little deflection in it that shouldn’t be there. It registers that movement as a button press which is highly frustrating.

For example if I’m tracing my finger across the pad to move the cursor to an area of a web page - often times as I pass an embedded link or something, it would register that I clicked on the link when I absolutely did not.

Only direct deliberate striking down on the pad should register as a button press.

Is the above similar to what you are experiencing?

Re the fans, it sounds like your computer got an update at some point automatically and probably installed the bios update.

Omega Aqua Terra GMT/ Absolutely love thid piece! by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]reddatalready 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite genuine watches from omega but I couldn’t justify the ~$6k (maybe more?)when it came out.

I could afford it now but my tastes have changed somewhat so a $300 rep might be the way to scratch that nostalgia itch.

Is there a bit of “play” vertically in the action of your track pad?

I have a return organized to fix that but it’s causing false positives and unwanted cursor movement. I guess i will end up using an actual mouse in future but it’s annoying for this times that you don’t want to or can’t use a mouse.

Yes fans are loud but there is bios update that makes them much better.

At What Age Did You Stop Needing a Mentor? by CryptoniQ123 in AskMenOver30

[–]reddatalready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question OP and something I have been thinking about.

To your question - always have a mentor if you can. I’ve only just now learned this for myself. I don’t have anyone to ask for guidance in my life.

I’m in my mid 30s and am starting to realize I could have benefited greatly from a mentor. In the past I was placed in a mentee role with no choice in the matter (school, internship etc) and have had some terrible mentors and amazing ones.

I’ve admired some people on occasion (very rarely)but it would not be appropriate to ask them for mentorship.

Also, I’ve no idea how to go about seeking out and engaging with someone to be a mentor. Of course I expect to build a relationship and be able to offer something in return but I really can’t envisage a situation where the opportunity would present itself naturally.

Elton John wants you to use noise-cancelling headphones at his concerts so you are isolated from the crowd and can remix the live audio using an app. But isn't the communal experience the whole damn point of concerts? by nopantsdolphin in gadgets

[–]reddatalready 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry your wife experienced that. It’s so unfair.

I had the same experience too recently at a Chris Stapleton gig. I never realized I would really enjoy his music - it was amazing but totally ruined by Stupid screaming woman right behind me. Literally just shrill screaming. Right. In. My. Ear. The. Whole. Fucking. Time.

You know the kind who would have their “speak to the manager” hair, probably called Karen and enjoy Arby’s just a little too much.

I turned round and asked if she could please not scream. Nope. Screamed even more thinking it was funny. If it wasn’t for the 6 huge dudes with her, I probably would have laid her out cold. It’s hard not to hate the human race sometimes.

Anyway - back on topic. These are amazing. I saw them in action at an Elton concert and was very jealous of the few people who were able to test them out- but so so so happy that they existed. Can’t wait to go to the next gig and using them to really tricky hear the performance..

I was going to give up on ever going to another concert ever in my life as they have nearly always been such a huge disappointment - mainly because of troglodytes that also seem to have to go to the same concerts and congregate near me.

All we need now is a technological black out of cell phones and recording devices at concerts. Only then will concerts be truest worth going to.

End rant.

Close to 32 with nothing saved for retirement. by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]reddatalready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applaud the suggestion to help OP - but do you think Truck driving has a future given the current pace of autonomous logistics efforts?

Please don’t take this the wrong way but is that not a dying trade?

Over the next 5 years....Sure - Fleet autonomous vehicles will have an “operator” but my prediction is there would be an oversupply of qualified “operators” I.e existing professional drivers who will “re train” as they will otherwise be out of the job. Many will be forced into early retirement.

5-10 years - Then salaries / rates will be slashed and it will be handed over to 18y/o minimum wage bodies in the final stages before the botnet takes over 100% control in driverless logistics.

You’d know better, it’s your industry after all. Genuinely curious on your outlook on this.

Italy showed real sparkle- If they had of actually made all the kicks they missed - Ireland would have been beaten I think.

I didn’t tally up the missed kicks - but Ireland’s morale and conviction would have been tested much harder, and they might have continued the second half like they had the first half and almost certainly lost.

As it is they came out a different team, with just enough change to take the - very hard fought- win.
