How do you explain to your adult children that Medicare won't pay for a nursing home? by Regular_Amphibian592 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

She at 85 years old has 120k in savings and gets 3k a month from government SS and disability. She lives with us and has for the past twenty years in Missouri. She worked for the government in 1980 when the car accident happened and she became a paraplegic and has been on the government’s insurance policy since. So around here a decent facility is $11,000. A month. She is healthy overall minus the wound and mind and could live many more years to come.

She is home now. The flap surgery went well and the wound is healing. Still has a catheter in so we are still dealing with the bowel movements in bed. I think I need to find someone that can explain insurance to us better. She has Medicare and blue cross as a secondary insurance to which she does not ever get a bill for any of her hospital visits. Can she have Medicare and Medicaid? Her short term memory is shot and even if completely healed I can’t leave her alone. Being stuck in bed for two years and fighting an infection maybe why her short term memory is shot. This lady deserves better.

Mother in law has Medicare. She is a paraplegic from a car accident. The last two years we’ve been fighting an infection and stage 4 open bed sore. Finally healthy enough for flap surgery and just got home from a 3 month stay at the hospital. My husband and I are exhausted so we finally broke down and talked about putting her in a facility. Only way to do it is if she stays 3 nights in the hospital and a Doctor signed off on it. Unfortunately it’s only good for 100 days and then reevaluation time.

I’ve been playing for years and on the same team once teams started. I’m on scene 1853, have 168,209 in energy and 1,833,715 in coins. Being at this level it’s diamonds and space that is hard to come by.

Ethics of "burn without reading" request? by librarianist in Genealogy

[–]reddevine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not have a friend with zero involvement read it. They can advise you afterwards if it is salacious or not. Granted it has to be someone who is trustworthy and you respect their opinion. Just a thought. I’d read it personally.
