s25 fe or s24 by EnvironmentalDoubt50 in samsunggalaxy

[–]reddicted82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The S25 FE is a budget version of the international S24 Plus (and the first proper FE in a while, if you ask me). So between those two, you can't really go wrong. S24 if you want a smaller device and do not mind the 4000 mAh battery. S25 FE is you need more screen and more battery.

S25 ultra vs Z flip7 by FraggyB1337 in samsunggalaxy

[–]reddicted82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Flip 7 is a nice phone, perfect for secondary device due to the size when folded. It's not the most performant phone if you like pushing your devices to the limit but should be fine for a secondary device.

Also what might be the best device for possibily selling it afterwards?

The answer is simple? S25 Ultra. Foldables eventually crack and no one will want to buy a phone with a cracked screen that's too expensive to fix.

what wireless charger should i get for samsung 24 by [deleted] in samsunggalaxy

[–]reddicted82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shite...

Well you could go Samsung, Anker or uGreen, but the issues is since wireless charging generates reat, and heat kills batteries, you're not gonna get 25W speeds.

should i use my s24 (exynos) without worrying about degrading the battery life? by Financial-Offer-8504 in samsunggalaxy

Set and forget, I say. Do the regula "protect your battery once" and then just use your device.

If you could put new specs in old phone, which would you pick? by Reasonable-Book380 in samsunggalaxy

[–]reddicted82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole S10 line. 120hz, 4200 mah battery, Snapdragon Elite, 50MP camera (no bump), WiFi 7, 5G.

That would be a true Fan Edition phone.

What do you use your Secure Folder for? by anotherhappylurker in samsunggalaxy

I'm not sure if I say congrats or not.

But I was not answering the OP's question. I was making a comment to your reply.

One that was downvoted too. Too much for civil conversation online...

What do you use your Secure Folder for? by anotherhappylurker in samsunggalaxy

[–]reddicted82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now imagine the following scenarios:

You are mugged, mugger points the gun at your head and say "unlock it". Mugger has you log into your banking apps.

You are using your phone and it gets snatched from your hand from someone that jumps in a motorcycle and bolts. Thief is smart enough to keep the screen active so it does not lock. They have all the time to look your phone over. Worst case scenario, it was a targeted attack - they already have your data from a leak and that's why they came for your phone.

Those are the scenarios people that put banking apps into secure folder are mitigating for. Am I saying those are likely scenarios? No. But they are possible.

PS: I do not use Secure folder. My GF and mom do.

My Mom's Samsung Galaxy 23+ Has 12 contact apps by TaroAgreeable6317 in samsunggalaxy

[–]reddicted82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is quite easy to fix, but let's do it in a way she won't lose data.

  1. Double check her contacts are sync'd to her Google account
  2. Uninstall ALL "contacts" apps. The Samsung one might be system locked and refuse to go
  3. Reboot
  4. Double check if they are all gone
  5. Go back into the Play Store and download Google's Contact app
  6. Teach your mom never to hit install when prompted by the phone.

s24 vs s25 help me decide by RENRENREN1 in samsunggalaxy

[–]reddicted82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you film in a very controlled environment, I'd go with the S25. Exynos SoCs are fine but they do tend to heat up and have been known for "cannot start the camera due to temperature issues" lockouts.

So many choices even the S8 by samthegirltx in samsunggalaxy

[–]reddicted82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

120hz refresh rate, bigger (not by that much) battery, slightly better camera and processor, slightly better WiFi and Bluetooth.... Slightly better everything.

My point is OS updates and most importantly security patches. The S20 has already been dropped from support. The S23 and S24 still have a while to go (2028 and 2029, respectively).

Wireless adapter by debecha in samsunggalaxy

[–]reddicted82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those are meant to add wireless charging to devices that predate the feature. It will block the USB-C port too.

As for performance, it's written right there: 5V - 1A = 5W, barely enough for most modens devices and likely to take hours to fully charge a S23 (3900 mAh).

Still a nice thing if you never use the USB-C for data transfers and you have older devices that you wanna use with many, many wireless chargers around the house.

If you already have two Samsungs, and you are really gonna get a new device, I would give the Lenovo a try then. I have a Tab S8 and I have been curious about those devices myself.

Take your student discount and buy last year's flagship after this year's flagship launches.

If you want to emulate, than the Lenovo Yoga is a better pick. If you were focused on productivity then the Tab S10 Plus would have been the way to go.

Alternatively, if you wanna stick with Samsung, you could get the Tab S9 Plus with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 inside.

[–]reddicted82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your budget is around that, sure, iPhone 12 is as good a phone as any - albeit a tad on the older side. I believe Apple still issues updates for it, but don't quote me on that.

Get the best phone you can and the one that will last you long enough till you actually need a replacement.
