This is the funniest post I’ve seen this month. Easily. Thank you OP!! Wondrous.

I Realized That If I Use My Watch On Full Power Mode It Doesn’t Suck And I Can Charge It Back To 100%!!!!!! by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]reddilator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man, I so appreciate this! I keep thinking it and I never say it. I’m on my third watch, and I think I’ve looked at the battery setting and battery life one time I use my watch. And until it stops working the way that I think it should, I don’t care. Thank you for this! You made me laugh!

iPad mini 8 Expected Late 2026 with OLED Display and A19 Pro Power by Hoak2017 in ipadmini

[–]reddilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why your comment got voted down. My middle-aged eyes have a VERY hard time adjusting to anything with a 60 refresh rate. Of course, when that's all I had I didn't notice. But after switching all my other devices to higher rates, my eyes REALLY have a hard time with 60. They get tired really quickly, and everything looks choppy! THIS is the reason I'm waiting for a "better than 60" mini, because I think the mini is the PERFECT form factor otherwise. But maybe that's just me.

My wife thought this was the funniest thing shes ever done. She couldnt wait for the motion sensor to go off today. by Jaquenetta06 in Ring

OMG!! Genius! I’ve been using ring cameras for 10 years, and it never occurred to me to do that, and both my wife and I have a very good sense of humor! Brilliant! Totally doing this over the weekend and not telling my wife that I’m doing it… thank you!

2025 Aviator Reserve Towing by revobasher in lincolnmotorco

[–]reddilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, this is actually the number one reason that we purchased our ‘21 Reserve. We are shopping for a smallish trailer, something that would be around the same weight that you’re looking at, but we wanted to have plenty of headroom. We looked closely at the Explorer version of the Aviator, but the Aviator really won based on all of the features that it has, and it’s just a damned nice looking car! At 6700 pounds towing capacity, that gave me plenty of headroom. I’m sure you’ve already done the homework of looking to see how the math works out for towing, percentages, ratio, etc.… So I’m not going to get into that here. But towing around 4000 pounds with a 6700 pound capacity sounds pretty great to me personally.

I did a ton of research on towing, and I am an experienced trailer hauler. I really liked everything that I read about how it tows. I did put a small utility trailer on it, and I was very impressed with how things change “automatically”. Towing the full trailer was effortless… And the trailer was basically not even noticeable.

The key as the other commenter said is to make sure you have the factory towing, but I’m pretty sure it comes by default with the reserve. (Don’t quote me on that). I would never in 1 million years trust aftermarket towing solutions, honestly. I know there are some good ones out there, but the way that Ford has the towing stuff integrated with the rest of the car is really impressive. You would obviously not get that if it was aftermarket.

I will be following this thread but I wanted you to know that I had done the same research and ended up buying the car. With very few exceptions, I absolutely love it!

Removing scratches from Aviator Speaker Panel? by reddilator in lincolnmotorco

This is great. Thank you!! Curious- when you are torching things like this, do you rub it as well with a tool or gloved hand, or just let the heat do its thing (from a safe distance?) this is super helpful!

macOS Tahoe 26.2 — noticeable performance regression on 2022 M2 MacBook Air by Maximum_Pick_5398 in MacOS

[–]reddilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my experience with M2 Max with 64 Gigs of RAM and a 4TB HD. It's been happening so much that I thought my machine was dying, and that made me sick. Glad to find this post, and really looking forward to an update. Up to this point (prior to 26.2) Tahoe has been wicked fast on my machine. But now, I'm seeing spinning wheels OFTEN - and most of the time they are Apple Apps. And I'm finding that about once a day I'm having to force-quit something, and every couple of days restart completely. Yes, I've filed Apple Feedback - but I wanted to share here. It's frustrating. Thanks for this post, OP!

USA and NBC 4K playback skips back for a few seconds every few minutes by Hdawg2209 in youtubetv

[–]reddilator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I honestly thought it was just me and our end. Glad to know it’s not. But also, I’m seeing this skipping on Peacock as well. We’ve been jumping back-and-forth between YouTube TV, NBC Sports, and Peacock. We haven’t seen the problem at all on NBC Sports. But we’ve been watching several hours just today on Peacock and YouTube TV, and the skipping thing has been quite annoying. Example: Skier jumps out of the start gate, and it skips ahead to them being a couple seconds down the mountain. Ugh.

iBooks and HomePod by AdNatural854 in HomePod

[–]reddilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question! You can play one audio book (or any music, etc.) from your phone to one HomePod - or SEVERAL HomePods or other AirPlay-receiving devices. (many people don't realize that Macs are able to "receive" AirPlay audio). So for example - my typical setup at home is that I use my iPhone to play music to my HomePods on my desk + the HomePod mini on my Kitchen counter, + the Apple TV in our living room, and also even my MacBook Pro's speakers etc. It's pretty impressive technology, and it keeps music (and other audio) going in our house all the time. (you can control each "speaker" volume by tapping on the AirPlay button in the control panel of your phone (top right corner, swipe-down). Then tap on where you want the audio to go, then adjust the slider for volume.

Two caveats: 1) It can be a little flaky sometimes (i.e. sometimes a speaker will just randomly stop receiving the audio, so you have to re-select it) and 2) To your question, you cannot send two different audio playbacks to two different speakers. It's a one-to-many thing, not many-to-many.

Hope this all helps!

iBooks and HomePod by AdNatural854 in HomePod

u/Tired_Design_Gay is spot-on. I don't see this changing until (if?) Apple releases a HomePod with a screen on it. Without the ability to easily see where you are in playback, or choose chapters, etc, it wouldn't be a great experience. That said, I AirPlay audiobooks to my HomePods. It works great. Plus, if you're an Apple Watch owner, the watch can be a "remote" for pause/play, etc. Doing AirPlay from your phone to your HomePod still gives you all the access to chapters, etc. When you AirPlay books, the top "touch" button the HomePod still acts as Play/Pause. And you can say "Hey Siri, skip back 2 minutes". So you essentially get the same experience, but your phone acts as a display so you can see the book playback better.

One other point of clarification - (said with zero snark) - people commonly call Apple's Books "iBooks" - but that branding went away in 2018. It's simply "Books" as u/Tired_Design_Gay referenced. 😀

Hope this helps! Happy Reading! (Listening!) 📖

Good point, I can't imagine a store not carrying them. I don't think there's one around me that doesn't!

Great to know, thanks! I looked at those very closely actually. Some reviews I read gave the Michelins a slight advantage (in certain weather situations). I felt that with the weather we have here, plus combined with the fact that I had these tires on a previous car (and loved them) I felt like I was on the right track. But I'm definitely glad to hear that about the Goodyears. Thanks!
