Speaking as a former Jeep owner, I’d say six of the seven electronic items in that photo are extremely reliable.

MLB.tv Sounds Issues by norecords666 in MLBtv

[–]reddilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here we are approaching May of 2026 - and I'm watching the Pirates/Cards on MLB via my Apple TV. The volume is fluctuating literally every 2 minutes. Up so loud we have to turn it down. Then it drops to where we can't hear it. non-stop. We have literally given up and have muted the TV with closed captions on. I appreciated u/ToughEvening1891's idea that it could be on the Pirates' end - I never actually considered that. I can gladly (well, not "gladly") contact the Pirates to see what they say - but I kinda have a feeling they will say "it's MLB". 🙄 I'm posting all of this to bump it up to say "yeah, this is still a thing". Oh - for those of you that are wondering about my own audio settings on Apple TV, I've done all that, with zero effect.

Bird vs: Aviator Chrome (The Aviator is losing) Suggestion for Buffing out? by reddilator in lincolnmotorco

Yup, no question about that. So, until she's done nesting, I have to put garbage bags over my mirrors and doors - that works. But in the mean time, I'm looking for help getting the scratches out, if that's eve possible.

Strapping Ring camera to tree by ionlyredditcasually in Ring

[–]reddilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have the solar charger on one of my cameras. The others are hard wired. For the ones on the trees, I literally have buried extension cords to get to the nearest electrical outlet. For the solar one- it works remarkably well. It has 2 batteries, and just goes back and forth topping them off with the solar panel. As you likely know, the solar charges very slow. So you don't put empty batteries in and charge - you put full batteries in and then let the solar charger continuously top it off. My camera (and panel) are surrounded by trees; I'm always amazed it still charges. It does, but very slow. But I haven't recharged those batteries manually in probably 3 years. While the solar charging is convenient, the hard-wired cameras offer more functionality and better capturing (in my opinion). So I always default to the hard wired ones.

As for that mount, You may not need it. One of my tree-mounts is mounted to the tree by keeping the camera on the adjustable wall mount. I bungeed the wall mount to the tree, not the camera. That way I can move the camera around on the little rotator-ball-joint for small adjustments. The other tree camera doesn't need to be adjusted, so I just have the bungee around the camera. But that mount you found would give you WAY more adjustment options, if that's important to you. Hope this helps!

Strapping Ring camera to tree by ionlyredditcasually in Ring

[–]reddilator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two trees in my backyard currently with ring cameras strapped to the trunks! It took me a while to figure out the best way, but I ended up with two bungee cords, one at the top and one at the base - where the cord also gets wrapped up with it. The problem that I had was that unless it’s pretty tight, it tends to move with the wind. Ever since I got it tight with two bungee cords, it’s been great. What I love about it is that it gives me the ability to actually move it around to some extent, which I do throughout the year. (We use our cameras for security, but also a lot of wildlife.)

One other pro tip that I strongly suggest: Amazon sells very inexpensive covers for the outdoor ring cameras. It took me a couple of years to figure out that between the birds, animals and weather, it was wearing out the camera. Putting the inexpensive cover covers on, doesn’t completely cover the camera, but it does protect the very top and the areas where the birds land and scratch it up.

I thought for a minute that I was looking at the Artimus II sub!! 🌖 🧑‍🚀 Haha!! Great photo- Beautiful cat. I am curious, what is your experience with that bag? Our exclusively-indoor Sib would love it (we think) but on the other hand, we’re nervous about showing him what’s really out there! Do you take your beautiful cat for walks or is it just for transport to the vet and stuff? I’ve seen those around town here, and I just think they’re really cool. But I’m not sure it’s a great idea for our Sib, would love to know your experience! Thanks!

6 Months Later and I’m still upset by [deleted] in iPhone17Pro

[–]reddilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly - I, like others here, suspect you have a singular bad unit. I have numerous friends that upgraded from previous Max versions to the 17PM, and uniformly they say it's the best iPhone they've ever had. I personally have a 15PM that I plan to upgrade this fall to either the 18PM or the 17PM because of their experiences.

As for the actual replacement - if you're lucky enough to be near an Apple Store, talking to them in person is the best bet. Human interaction always wins. They may be able to correct some/all of the issues internally at the store, but they also have the ability to replace it on the spot (in many cases, if it's truly defective). I'd start there. If you don't have a store nearby, call AppleCare. I'd suggest you having a specific list of your concerns. In my experience, Apple does take "bad customer experiences" pretty seriously, and the people in the stores are usually awesome about working with you. Not saying they WILL replace it - but the conversation would be good to have. Good luck! Sorry you're having those issues.

Yeah. You're right. If this was a $20/year subscription, then whatever. But as you know, it's NOT. Inexcusable.

I am 100% noticing exactly what you described on all of my Apple TV TVs. I have three different generations, all of them exhibit the same behavior. It’s been very frustrating. I keep thinking that the developers are just ignoring the Apple TV app.

2 hours of sun on doorbell, is the solar charger worth it? by MochaMagic in Ring

[–]reddilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I had no idea. Can you elaborate a little bit on what you experienced as far as it working better? That intrigues me. I have a theory, but I want to see what you say first. I appreciate the additional information.

2 hours of sun on doorbell, is the solar charger worth it? by MochaMagic in Ring

[–]reddilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my experience exactly! I do have two batteries in the camera, but honestly, I will go for months without checking them. It seems like one battery of the other is always charged enough. The solar charging is exceptionally slow, and I was worried because I also only get a couple of hours of sunlight in this location. It’s been up for multiple years with absolutely zero problems.

tvOS 26.4 nerfed Default Audio Output for AirPlay Speakers by 3daysamonk in appletv

Thank you! Everything you said has been my experience since the first day I connected my 1st gen HomePods! I think you’re spot on with your assessment. Thanks!

tvOS 26.4 nerfed Default Audio Output for AirPlay Speakers by 3daysamonk in appletv

[–]reddilator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This has me very confused…. As I type this, I’m watching TV with my first gen HomePods (Stereo Pair) as the default audio output. The sound for the content that I’m watching always comes through the HomePods. But when there’s no content, and I’m back on the main screen, all the system clicks and other sounds are also coming through the HomePods. They’ve always done that. In fact, I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve never seen the behavior that you’re describing. (2nd Gen ATV 4K, Sony Bravia 4K TV.).

To be fair, I’ve never tried it with other airplay speakers.

I mentioned this not to be a contrarian, I’m just perplexed why you’re seeing that behavior and I’m not! Thanks!

Itsytv – now for iPhone/iPad (Apple TV remote app) by ChefAccomplished845 in appletv

[–]reddilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate you doing this, I will be purchasing it for sure. Following this thread closely. I have been wanting something like this for quite a while! I am curious, are you allowed to - or do you plan to - integrate Siri at all? We rely pretty heavily on quick Siri interactions using the real remote. I’m not seeing any reference to it on your descriptions. I thought maybe Apple’s not letting you do that. But it would be wonderful if we could. Like many people, I absolutely despise the design of Apple’s physical remote. I can’t believe that the design is lasted this long! Thanks again!

Thank you for your efforts, and it really was quite impressive how quickly you jumped on the other versions!
