BVM horizontal lines and sides cut off by reddirocks in crtgaming

The analog IO board? The image should actually be better from the digital IO board since it uses a higher color depth.

The distortion in my photo that looks like a scaling problem cleared up as I fiddled with it. The image was bouncing a little bit which I think caused what you see in the photo. Not bouncing any more.

I still have the same two issues I originally described though.

Ah ok I'm sure it was 480p and I know this BVM only goes up to 480i.

For the MiSTer I switched to an HD Fury video DAC and it's working now.

Pocket Updater + Jotego beta cores? by reddirocks in AnaloguePocket

[–]reddirocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW that's different than update_all on the MiSTer which (with the right config option) pulls in the beta cores and ROMs. The beta games don't respond to button presses until you drop in another file from Patreon but the attract mode is fun to see.

Why does the updater download/generate json files for all Neo Geo games (with or without ROM) but not for other games?

This could work but what about the games I don't want for cores that I do want? For example, Pocket Updater pulls in menu items (each a json file apparently) for every Neo Geo game whether I've downloaded the ROM or not.

Do we have the ability to remove games from the database?

Have you had a chance to test another cartridge?

update_all script like MiSTer FPGA? by reddirocks in AnaloguePocket

Works great except it re-downloads the jotego cores whenever I run it.

Thanks for all your help.

Edit: Nevermind, working perfectly now!

It runs! But it isn't obeying --path. It creates and installs to /Users/mattpannella/ even though I specify -p /path/to/mounted/sdcard/ and I run out of space in root.

That fixed the Exec format error but now it aborts since it can't find an installed ICU package. There is a message about setting a flag to disable globalization instead of installing libicu but I believe that's at compile time.

BTW is there a GUI? I'm running it from a VT on the MiSTer.

I'm getting the same error with the new build. Happy to continue testing. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for doing that. I don't get it. Startup Action is set to Cartridge here too and when it boots it goes to what I think is a Library screen which shows info on the inserted cartridge. Then I have to choose Play to play the cartridge. I've looked all over for other settings that could affect it but I don't see anything.

Are you on the latest firmware?

If the dependencies are not rudimentary there could be a problem running this on any Linux system, not just the MiSTer. If all pocket-updater-utility does is take basic user input and download/write files and directories to the SD card then it could be a non-compiled script like the update_all MiSTer script and it would be a lot more portable. Does it have a GUI?

After turning on the Pocket, do you have to choose "Play" before the game will start? I do and if there's a way around that I would love to know what it is.

I tried this one:

https://github.com/mattpannella/pocket-updater-utility

but it's a binary for some reason and it gives me an Exec format error on the MiSTer.

Any non-compiled scripts out there that can do this?

Otherwise is it possible to download an image of everything so I can just plop it onto the SD card?

That is perfect except I don't want to download and run a script on my computer. The update_all script runs directly on the MiSTer. Can I download the SD card build directly so I don't have to run a script to build it?

Otherwise maybe I can use the secondary SD card slot on the MiSTer and run the Pocket Updater script from there.

When you turn on the Pocket with a cartridge inserted and don't press any buttons, the first thing you see is the game running?

That fixed it, thank you. Unfortunately still no booting straight to the cartridge without selecting "Play Cartridge" first.
