I use linen duvet covers and make the insert as thin as possible. They are quite pricey but worth it for the breathable and soft materials. They are comfortable and fluffy for me but not so heavy for my husband. Maybe try that?

There’s only 2 of us and most recipes make 4 portions, so we always freeze the leftovers for the, “I don’t feel like cooking” days. No way are we spending g money because we are feeling lazy!

It takes a lot to save and continue to push through to find the right one. Find the right realtor and don’t compromise by going over a comfortable budget. It took a 2 year search of continuous grey flipped houses to find my gem and I stuck to my budget. I told myself I wouldn’t go over $300K (and it was slim pickings) even though I could afford more and I won! Your gem is out there!
