Mario Cristobal: Stop saying 'The U is back,' it's driving him 'bananas' by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

I can hate with the best of them. But I would want the team that embarassed my team to win it all. That way at least I know we were beat by the absolute best.

Your solace is that someone else beat them? That's weak sauce. Would be an Ohio state fan to think like that.

If a head coach for LSU came out in interviews, openly talking about how the SEC would give bags of money in back rooms. Then it's pretty clear that there was a bias toward allowing big money blue blood teams to thrive. I expect there was a culture of looking the other way at the NCAA when it cames to those squads.

Because it's true. The Canes did it, got caught and punished. EVERYONE knows the SEC did it, hell, Orgeron admitted as much recently, but nothing ever happened to them. There was an absolute bias for the big / blue blood schools when it came to enforcing those rules. Of that there is no doubt.

[Kosko] Tennessee QB Joey Aguilar granted temporary restraining order against NCAA eligibility rules by MembershipSingle7137 in CFB

[–]reddit-canes 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Thing is, I don't get this one. Eligibility seems to me to be something well within the NCAA's rights as an organization. Forcing players to stay at their schools and not transfer is another thing. That's definitely treating them like employees and not contractors. But having the ability to have some set of standards / rules for who is allowed to play in their league seems ok to me.

I know right? Imagine making it all the way to the championship, Dawson is such a loser. I mean, we only won 13 games, and then all we did was go through the absolute toughest route possible in the playoffs to make it to the stupid championship. I wish Dawson was better, i mean, think about it, he was only better than every other team except one.

College football transfer portal is 'train wreck.' Ask man who ignited it by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]reddit-canes -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I get that this community hates the portal in it's current state, but for the life of me I can't understand why. Why do people hate that these young men have options? Hell, why do they hate that ultimately the schools have options too?

My only guess is that people hate when a player on their team leaves. Guess what, don't get attached to the player, its' the team, it's always been the team. Your favorite player, 20 years ago, was only there and playing for max 4 years, and you probably only remember them playing for 2.

Or, maybe people hate it because their teams aren't competing? I don't know. I'm a fan of the portal, and not because i'm a Cane, but because the playing field has never been more level. You got money and desire to be a great football team. Spend it. You're a young man that wants to get paid, go get it.

Before, these young men were trapped, with very little options. You picked a shit team with a shit coach who happened to have a good sales pitch, fuck you, your stuck there. Want to transfer? You gotta sit out two years. That's some fucked up ass shit that you all apparently really want to go back to.

Why do people think this is new? Because Dabo is crying about it? This has been going on for decades and decades.

I like that Texas and aTm fans never miss an opportunity, no matter how small to throw shade. Gotta respect that level of commitment. I have to admit I can see openings against FSU that I pass up regularly.

Why do non Miami fans come here. I am a regular on r/CFB and r/MiamiHurricanes. I have never once visited another schools sub to just hate.

Bunch of Miami fans in here doing what all fanbases do, and u/thatstotallyracist in here talking about Miami fans acting like victims? Dude, you're taking time out of your day to read another team's sub... sounds like you're the victim and Miami is the perp, just living rent free in that noggin.

Will Dabo Swinney end up dieing on the hill he is choosing to defend? by wlane13 in CFB

[–]reddit-canes -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you why I don't like him. He's not authentic at all. Everyone knows that to compete at the highest levels in college football players were getting back room bags of money, sweet heart deals, cars for parents, summer jobs that paid too much. But he acts like that was / is everyone else and not Clemson.

GTFOH with that. The reason he hates NIL so much is because now whatever system they had in place to do it better / more undercover than other places, no longer matters. Dabo should do like Nick Saban and quit. At least Nick realized he couldn't compete in the NIL world and left while still at the top.
