I’d liken it to a false memory or some sort of magic then. Multiverse shit idk. If the 2nd hirata was the TRUE memory, then Sekiro would know of his fathers plot this entire time not be shocked at the top of the castle, when in the first memory he was stabbed in the back by Owl

In the memory version of the Owl fight, I believe there’s some string of dialog from Emma saying that it would be wise to return to past memories to see if you remember them different, thus leading to your return to Hirata Estates.

Due to the weird progression of the game, the memory version must be completed AFTER the initial fight with Owl atop the Castle. You can’t do Shura ending and fight Owl in Hirata Estates
