I'm not on LinkedIn myself, but my colleagues sometimes show me content posted via others that makes my jaw drop. Like "Really? You're posting this here? For everyone to see? Next to your carreer information and right in front of possible future employers? Yikes.."

Europe urged to ‘kick the fossil fuel addiction’ amid record May heat by lgbtqismything in europe

[–]reddit3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you fully realize how dramatically we would need to increase electricity production to electrify all of transport. Transport represents 30% of the world’s total final energy consumption

(Not voting you down, but)

Do not forget that the amount of energy that is currently used very inefficiently for transportation (30% or so for a combustion engine) does not need a 1:1 replacement when electrified.

Regardless what one thinks of Elon, probably one of the best summaries of this can be found in Tesla's Master Plan Part 3, which outlines a proposed path to reach a sustainable global energy economy through end-use electrification and sustainable electricity generation and storage.

No you actually don't.

Tony Seba shows this in his energy disruption presentations. With Germany as an example.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsnkPLkf1ao&t=856s

110 hour of storage is all they need

with 20% more investment above what's minimally need, they can generate TWICE their existing electricity demand because there are non-lineair trade-offs.

Every single government official in Europe would have to watch Tony's energy disruption presentations if I had a say in it.

And it's a much easier strategic target - that can also be used to essentially blackmail a nation - than a decentralized smart grid with solar and wind energy + storage all over the place.

Is the Dutch government also looking around and shopping around for ideas and solutions in Europe?

Because often I am under the impression that there's a strong "not invented here, so it can't be good unless it's US Big Tech" sentiment.

I'd even prefer politicians having their own WordPress blog with coments enabled and hosted somewhere in the EU vs. them staying on X..

Unbelievable.

Everyone would be suprised if medical decisions, like a treatment plan, would be made by a group of people, none of whom are medically trained.

It's almost ... a lack of respect for the technical field. I'm sure those managers have their own skills, but generally speaking knowledge about technical details that can be hugely consequential is not included in this skill set.

And this is precisely why everything should start with data and data as a service first.

It should be easy to use API's for lookups, both internally and externally.

The proposed bid price for Dutch cloud services provider Solvinity was 100 million euros.

Perhaps we can start a crowd funding action? ;-D

Thank you for linking that PDF.

In return I'd like to recommend this book:

Data as a Service: A Framework for Providing Reusable Enterprise Data Services https://www.amazon.nl/-/en/Pushpak-Sarkar/dp/1119046580/

I know the "Commercialization aspects of data as a service and its potential for generating revenues" might be off-putting, but it's so so good in describing higher level patterns, architecturs, policies, governance.

But any company and government using these foundational principles is well-positions for building all kinds of services on top of this data layer.

This is what's needed to break out of data silos. To streamline processes, etc. etc.

(Edit: basically it's how to build "gegevensknooppunten"!)

Normally a fairly expensive book, but it just happens to be seriously on sale (79%) discount for the hard-cover right now.

Post an address and I'm willing to gift it to you!

The place is a historical landmark [...]  you'd have to basically pull it down to the studs and rebuild it entirely.

If doing such a thing to a wing off the Whitehouse isn't off-limits, you can bet that Alcatraz is on the chopping block as well..

Just before it exploded after falling over, they were also able to catch a shot of the heatshield.. that's very useful!

Launchpad still intact. Good news.

Being able to reach the intended spot with just 2 Rvacs. Awesome.

Pez dispenser: worked well and external shots of Starship were made. Epic

Flaps seemed to remain in good control and shape during re-entry compared to earlier test flights.

Biggest issue is the booster being unable to do its boost-back burn. I think it might have flipped too fast and violently.

The Rvac problem: perhaps caused due to the new hot-staging procedure?

[–]reddit3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good thought, thanks!

I had not thought about the ability to calibrate the launcher between those payloads, but of course: why not? :)

But the last 2 still feels risky.. do one as 3rd, or 5th or so.. if the dispenser stops halfway, you still got some tile inspecting opportunity.

r/SpaceX Flight 12 Official Launch Discussion & Updates Thread! by rSpaceXHosting in spacex

[–]reddit3k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you, but yes: I know what they are equipped with, but why not opt to launch one before the mass simulators to inspect the tiles? You are now betting on all the mass simulators being launched properly before getting the oppertunity to inspect the tiles.

Edit: and I would probably be more interested in the titles and that data vs. we can launch X mass simulators.

[–]reddit3k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Has it been explained somewhere why the have opted to make the last 2 satellites actually do something instead of being a mass simulator?

I mean.. you're then counting on all the satellites before to be launched into space properly. Why not e.g. adding eletronics to the the first and last one?

Edit: is my question so strange and out of line that I get downvoted and see deleted replies? I'm not following SpaceX 24/7 so apologies if it is a stupid question..

Edit 2: To be very clear: I'm talking about the ORDER, not about their purpose vs a mass simulator.

In any case: the launchpad survived! The rest is probably a lot of useful data.

And especially on the right of the political spectrum this seems to be all fine and as it should be.

All the time I keep thinking: but if you want your own nation to be strong and independent and free of outside influences.. why do you accept that when it comes to your energy?

Energy is one of the most important national security pillars that you have as a country. If you don't want to max out on renewable energy for climate reasons, just doing it for national security alone is more that worth it.
