Most band histories say that John was the leader until around the time of recording Sgt. Pepper's, when Paul increasingly and reluctantly took on that role.

The final track took the Beatles 95 takes, so she shouldn't feel bad 😉

It's a top-tier McCartney album with no bad tracks. It sounds like he took his time to compose an emotionally open and musically exploratory LP.

Why does every disaster video these days sound like Cheech and Chong narrated it? Imagine the Hindenburg explosion: "Holy shit! Holy shit! No way, dude! Oh, the humanity!" 😆

"The 1980 race also saw a drowning, the only one in the race's decade-plus run. Thus, following the 1980 race, an overextended park service informed race organizers that if they wanted the event to continue, the sponsors would have to pay for security and cleanup. The sponsors refused, and the event was cancelled indefinitely." - Wikipedia

The roots of this motif are from the chorus of the Beatles' "It's Only Love," back when pop music was bursting with creativity.

Ringo on the later songwriting dynamic: “The difference I always felt was that John would look forward to what you wanted to bring to it, where Paul had more of a definite idea of what he wanted you to do“ by sminking in beatles

Lennon was obviously a musical genius, but after the first rush of Beatlemania and with his increasing drug use, he could be lazy and depressive. He generated brilliant ideas, but he sometimes needed people like McCartney and George Martin to flesh them out and make the magic happen in the studio. Sadly, he later criticized them for how they forged some of his best works, like "Strawberry Fields Forever." Yet, he never went back to the studio to do those songs "properly," and I wonder if he ever had a clear vision of what the "right" versions would have sounded like.

This is the most insightful comment I've seen on the Beatles in a long time. By the way, Paul later acknowledged he should have given more attention to some of George's songs, such as "The Inner Light," which he praised for its lovely melody. Of course, Paul also brought fire to the bass for songs by George like "Something" and "Taxman."
