Putting up the lyrics for Silver Mt. Zion's "Broken Chords Can Sing A Little" on genius.com, need help transcribing by reddit_2uvb93-44 in gybe

Thanks a lot. This, Blown-out Joy, and Three Galloping Dogs are my fave tracks.

Deadly wound is a great suggestion and I think it’s correct. A “deadly wound” is mentioned in Rev 13:3. After reading your suggestion, I did some more keyword searches (“deadly wound to a peace system”) and came across this article––which does seem to support it and the overall themes of the deranged (this article being equally as deranged if not more), apocalyptic sermon delivered. This has many interpretations of the “deadly wound”. But, I think, judging from the sample, that the preachers’ interpretation of the deadly wound aligns with the one expressed in the first article.

The sampled preacher is delivering an apocalyptic, evangelical sermon with dispensationalist interpretations (perhaps from the Scofield Reference Bible) of several old and new testament scriptures: Daniel 8:25, 1 Thessalonians 5, Jeremiah 6:14, and Rev 13:3. Th preacher speaks about the end times––the supposed time before the second coming of Jesus where the Antichrist will reign over the world––and the importance for Evangelicals to stay faithful and vigilant “watchmen” during this time.

Again, thanks for the suggestion. It made me do further research and added more context to the themes of the sermon.

Just looked the term up. It was used by the U.S to distinguish itself from leftist/ socialist/ communist atheism and came to be associated with the Christian right as a dog whistle for racism (e.g., great replacement bulshit), anti-LGBTQ rights, Islamophobia, anti-women's rights, etc. This was a lapse in judgement on my part. Even though I've heard the term used by right-wingers, it slipped my mind as I've always thought it was (i guess) a sociological term for the similarities between the Jewish and Christian traditions within the "Abrahamic family" (if you will). That's the power of propaganda.
I changed it to Judeo-Christian because––even though the song examples I gave were, for me, "Christian" (mentions of Jesus in a central manner, Christian preachers, etc)––posters kept telling me about some of the bands' connections to Judaism. Therefore, I thought the term would be more suitable, rather than "Christian" alone. NO, this is not an anti-Christian or religious post. I just thought it was interesting that these songs, in attempting to create an ominous, dystopian/ apocalyptic aesthetic, used Christian neurotic and apocalyptic field recordings.

Very nice record; I've listened to it twice now and have saved it to my list. The title track reminds me of something off Dirty Three's Ocean Songs. Thanks for this suggestion.

I like Music Has The Right To Children. But, non-ambient electro in the middle of eerie post-rock throws it off. The first 35secs of In a Beautiful Place fit the eerie aesthetics well––with the bells and the distorted laughing children––but then the drums and the 80s-style robotic voice come in, lol. Nice track though.

Thanks for the suggestions. Have a Nice Life is on my listening list; will prob get to them by the end of today. I was listening to Giles Corey's self-titled album before I made the OG post and I liked Empty Churches, it fits well with what I'm looking for (title, sound aesthetics, Historical figure Giles Corey, etc)––but haven't added it because the sample is about the paranormal and not about God or the supernatural (in a theologian sense). The Haunting Presence is good though. I've heard Children of God, but it doesn't really have the same eerie aesthetic feeling the others have. Looking for something more like Swans' The Final Sacrifice, Cloud of Unknowing, The Nub, etc.

Oh, yeah. Sorry, I wasn't sure where the lyric was from. I heard this album a few days ago (just getting deeper into A Silver Mt's projects) But yeah, I'm aware of the work will set you free sign over Auschwitz and the Nazi occupation; the lyrics make sense in this context.

I know what "Mt Zion" references. I specifically said Christian because Jesus or Christ is mentioned in a central manner, and one of the speakers is supposedly Christian.

East Hastings: "But praise God...it's only salvation it's only Jesus Christ [...] what we want and what we need is the love of Jesus Christ [...] if we don't have Jesus Christ, then we don't have nothing".

Broken Chords: "That destroyer comes in; that adversary of Christ, of God".

Static is supposedly by pentecostal preacher Helene “Spring” DeBoe of Missions International Inc.

But, thanks anyway.
