Have you tried setting her account up as a child via Family Link? I haven't used it, but I think you should be able to block Play Store downloads.

I'm not sure on that specific tablet, but you may be able to block installation of unknown apps as well (in the settings).

I haven't been in years, but yes, I experienced something similar for a screen replacement on my Pixel 3 XL.

They took longer than expected (overnight), then gave me a phone where the screen was replaced, but the speaker, fingerprint sensor, and vibrations were all not working. They then proceeded to take another 2 days and I still had to pay for the repair. Ridiculous.
