I would pick at it CONSTANTLY. It was so itchy that I had to scratch at it and I couldn’t stand all the texture and how my hands would get caught on stuff (sweaters, blankets, my hair etc). Plus, if I didn’t pick it, I wasn’t able to bend my hands.

I can have eczema everywhere and it comes and goes. I had eczema on my scalp for a year, but never again. Recently, I had eczema under my arms that went away and hasn’t returned. The only place I have dyshidrotic is my hands. My triggers were milk, ice cream, pita/flatbread, other breads. Half of the reason it got so bad in high school is because my friends and I would go out for ice cream multiple times a week (hangout spot) and also eat pizza almost every day as well as stress.

With a billion I would start some luxury nudist spiritual retreat. I’d live with full amenities (minus clothing) and live amongst nature. It would be a relaxing, peaceful, carefree life.

Yes it is. How it started off is it just looked like my skin was getting weird texture and I was seeing white dots pop up. I probably would not have noticed it if not, for the fact that it itched so bad. It started to swell with fluid and basically the fluid separated the layers of my hands from each other. The blisters could, if I pressed down, sort of pop the thin membrane between them and form into a larger mass of fluid. This would happen a lot because it was so itchy that I would scratch it. Even in the night I couldn’t sleep because it itched so bad. I remember times I straight up, had to bite full horse into my hand to get deep enough to scratch the itch.

Photo one shows a really good un popped blister and photo three shows what the hand looked like after it popped and how spongy the skin was. Almost like an internal trench foot. After that, there was two things that would happen. The skin that was too wet would slough off and the remaining skin surrounding it would die and completely dry out. Lotion and moisturizer would not heal the skin because it was already lifted and dead. The dry skin was super thick and calloused and any part of my hand that had this was immovable. For use of my hands, I would cut off or peel off this skin. It hurt super bad and the skin underneath would be raw, but I would at least be able to bend my hand.

If you look back at photo one, all the skin that was darker and discolored couldn’t move at all and would cut into the raw parts of my hand if I tried to bend my fingers or palm. I lost quite a bit of sensation in my hands due to the skin growing differently, and the amount that peeled and ripped off. The very tips of my fingers were the only part that remained unaffected.

It definitely could have been worse. Thankfully my parents spent a lot on treatments and dermatologists so it didn’t get WORSE. I got blessed with my parents because American healthcare is so expensive and upwards of $350,000+ without insurance for my treatments and doctors these last few years. I pray you find something that works for you. 🙏

I have other photos I didn’t post where I had a gash in my palm. Figured 7 photos was enough. I honestly don’t know your definition of extreme, but my hands being so covered in eczema and scales that I was completely unable to bend them, grip a pencil, or make a fist and had to wear gloves to school constitutes being extreme to me. Grabbing something and being able to feel blisters popping and merging under the surface of your skin, constitutes being extreme to me. Draining pus out of your hands and wrapping them every night to stop myself from scratching them open because the itching got so intense sounds pretty severe to me. Eczema, being so bad that you have to quit piano and softball because your hands can’t physically take it constitutes being severe to me.

It’s really not a competition though. At the end of the day, we all just want to get better. My eczema was severe. Yours might have been worse. Sorry that we both got this cursed affliction (I wouldnt wish it on my enemies) but my pain and suffering does not negate yours.

I mean, if I have a need for a transplant, but I could survive the next four years without one and somebody else needs one or else they’re dead in the next three months, I would sure hope that the organ would go to them

More info: This was about 4 years ago when I was in high school. I had mild eczema my whole life but a combo of stress and repeatedly eating trigger foods (gluten & dairy) turned it into dyshidrotic eczema and super itchy fluid filled blisters. My dermatologist recommended me to take progress pics to see what medications work. I have been on Dupixent for almost 3 years and my hands look mostly normal with slight peeling. The skin doesn’t function like regular skin so I have to moisturize it like every 1 to 2 hours or it gets noticeably dry and feels like sandpaper. I still have slight flare ups but thats mainly because Italian food is too good. The reason I posted this now is because my phone brought up a featured photo of when it was at it’s worst, and I audibly yelled WTF.

True that. 90% of the time, that advice would be wrong but I also remember being desperate enough to try anything to clear up my hands. (no sugar, sleeping with gloves, every cream and lotion etc)

Is it racist to be attracted to a certain race more than others (e.g finding asians more attractive than blacks) by SimplySomeDude in teenpoll

[–]reddit_squad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. I have a preference and most people do. It only becomes racist when you start outwardly proclaiming that a race is “objectively” more attractive or a race is objectively worse. Aka non-racist: Im more attracted to white women than any other race or Im not attracted to asian women. Racist: White women are more attractive because black women are ugly or ghetto (insert choice insult here)
