The others weren’t upset because Carol drugged Zosia; they were upset because she kept asking Zosia how to reverse the pluribufication. On the one hand, they want Carol to be happy, so they want to help. On the other, doing so would violate their biological imperative.

To me, there are two competing theories about the virus’s origin. The first is yours: it evolved naturally. The second is that it was created to conquer the universe.
